I really wish that Polaroid would bring back type 55 positive/negative film. The negatives that I made with that film were completely grainless, and could print at huge sizes.

Recently purchased a Polaroid Now Gen2 camera and while the camera function okay i.e as it should the I-type film is prone to inconsistency/unreliability. I have shot two packs of film and so far have had about a 25% failure rate with some photos showing distinct colour banding or parts of the photo being not developed properly. I've been taking photos for nearly 50 years so I'm not some beginner and the film i used was well within it's expiry date. I also have an Instax Mini 90 and an Instax Wide 300 and the photos I've taken with them have all come out exposed properly under the same or similar conditions so it's obvious that Instax film is far more reliable and stable the Polaroid film. "Discover the beautifully imperfect world of Polaroid photography " as it says on their website is not a valid USP if it means one is to expect a product that isn't reliable.

2:55 Original Polaroid SX-70 film was never 100 ASA, it was always 150. A negligible difference compared to today’s film. The whole 100 ASA thing comes from the early Impossible days when their black and white film was 100 ASA, and color 125. Up until 2013-2014 Impossible’s 600 film was actually rated at 680 ASA, a really odd film speed.

Brilliant presentation and well explained. Before I invest in Polaroid 600 film and store it flat in the fridge until I use it could the film be damaged in Amazon/store storage and during shipping/transportation if purchased online? Thanks again Simon UK

I have a Polaroid sun 600 lms. I had a film pack that was said to work for I type and 600. I had another one that was only for 600 with color/b&w. The one for I type and 600 is useless on my camera. Won’t even turn on. Cuz it doesn’t have the film pack battery. You answered a huge question.

Hi, thanks for this video! I live in Sweden where it gets quite cold during winter and when shooting with SX-70 on two different Polaroid Land Camera 1000 I keep running into problems where the battery pack in the film just dies immediately, and then I have to buy a new package of film and start over. I know it's not optimal to shoot in cold weather with any Polaroid camera, but I thought at least they should be able to handle a few minutes outdoors during winter? Both cameras are working just fine indoors.

I see film for my 640 camera advertised on Ebay with very old expiration dates--sometimes 20 years back or more. Is this film reliably functional? If not, why would anybody buy it? How much past the expiration date can one safely go?

So what if I get a polaroid now ( so the newest ones ) what would be better type i or 600 because I noticed type I was 20$ for 8 photos
@problematic01 Жыл бұрын
I-type and 600 have the same qualities. The only big difference is the built-in batteries that is needed in 600 cameras. I-type is a bit cheaper. But 600 has variety of different film. If you are just using normal color film, I would say go for I-type.

does the SX-70 film really have finer grain, punchier colors, higher contrast? i never used any other film other than 600. even in my SX70 i use 600 with an ND filter. and i adore the pictures it gives me! love the colors, love the look. the reason i use 600 film is that my wife preferes the 660 AF. so we share the same film. we simply get the 5 pack bundle and always have fresh film in the fridge. it works well. now i wonder, would it make a noticible difference if i got SX70 film? is it worth it? what do y'all think?
@brooklynfilmcamera2 жыл бұрын
It definitely does! Completely different film, but if you're loving what you're getting from 600, there's really no reason to switch. Might be worth grabbing a couple packs to try it out, though!

It has deeper, more neutral blacks than 600. I see no grain on either of these films.

I have the dumbest question but I need answers and google is not answering so. Can I use smaller in size films in my Polaroid Now camera? Like the same-ish size to Polaroid Go films. The lady at the electronics shop that I could but I'm really not sure (p.s. idk if my camera is gen 2 or not but it charges with an USB-C)
