I’m all for blossfechten, but no face protection, and polearms with contact at more than slowmo speed… that is pushing your luck in my opinion.

That's true, but that's the point of blossfechten. Don't let the protective equipment protect you. We're both experienced, veteran fencers, that's why we did it. Of course, most of the time at least eye and mouth protection is used.

can you carry the Poleaxe with ease while wielding a shield on the off-hand? Or it would make maneuvering it way too difficult (because its top heavy)?

Poleaxe is a two handed weapon that came about when full plate became common, which negated the need for a shield while fighting on foot.

Hi! You can use a polearm with a small shield strap on your hand like in the beginnig of this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/o53aZXydd8Z7as0 This size is not bother you when you grabbing the shaft and you can protect yourself if you must with the shield.

@@ElDrHouse2010 Sorry! You can't use it with one hand. Not primarily because the head itself is heavy, but because it is very far from your hand due to the long handle, the leverage is so great that you cannot handle it. Sure, you can swing it half-handed, but you can't fight with it.

I find it weird that they wear leg protection but no torso protection or fencing mask!!!

Hi! It was in our last training of the year. Before that we done fihting on full gear, but we also had some lunch, because of which we already took off the equipment, and we only took out the halberds at the end for fun. that's why we only have protectors on our feet and nowhere else. :D
