I love wiring, I just hate plugging in. Lol. I hope you get it figured out soon. Great video Dallas.

If you turn the prop on the trolling motor while reading the voltage , you may find it shorted internal to ground...

Dang girl! I'm glad you know electric stuff. I don't mess with it. Been bit by it before, nope, not gonna play with electricity! At least you got to play for a minute, and have 2 cats. Hell, got my license Mothers day and have only gone twice. I sure miss my fishing buddy. We would have been fishing at least a couple times a week. My Mr isn't as into fishing as I am. Dang I wish we were closer! Good luck with that electrical! Tight lines Dallas!

A year or so ago I repurposed a telescopic roller handle to replace a short net handle. I fixed pipe insulation on so it would not ever sink if it got in the drink. (The thing would take on water after a while, see.) Anything that will not sink after it gets into the drink could be used, It's a crazy world, but two weeks ago I found a painting set in the clearance outlet bin at ALDI store and snapped it up cuz the big roller by itself would have cost more than the set. I could rant about how aluminum broom- painting- or mop handles and the like do not come with standardised tip. But, as the tips are plastic one can screw things in, so ... I think she could repurpose a handle like that as well.

I was eyeballing mine before I left but the net is just about as long. I'll probably pick one up on my next trip to town. It's a lot lighter...

Anytime you catch one or two of them, it's a good day, Lol as for the electrical problem. You will have to start at one end and look for a short. You can, but I dont ground anything to the boat. If your shaft is hot you have electricity flowing through your boat lol.
@PoleBenderFishing Жыл бұрын
From my understanding the ground should be tied to the engine? Correct? And the ground of the trolling motor should be on the battery that is grounded to the engine? I'm starting to see that a boat without a deck is much easier to work on. lol I'll be disassembling my deck today... 😅
@raymondsimpson7433 Жыл бұрын
@PoleBenderFishing your motor should be kept separate. It. Should have its own 12v battery all to itself. The trolling motor is a 24v system, so it needs 2 12v batteries by itself. You can run 12v stuff on the motor battery, i.e., Bilge pump, running lights, etc. Your motor wires should go straight to battery, trolling motor straight to 24v batteries with a 40 amp breaker or fuse. It a mess lol, hard for me to explain. Remember, you are dealing with DC, not AC. Good luck. Unless you have rubber isolators, the motor grounds itself to the boat where it is mounted to the boat.
@PoleBenderFishing Жыл бұрын
Yeah, I know I should have the motor on it's own battery (for cranking sake). I was trying to penny pinch cause them batteries ain't cheap and this would be my 4th for the year. lol All the batteries had to be replaced to get her running. Think I found the short (hopefully) about to disassemble the TM.
@arkyhunter2750 Жыл бұрын
You can use a smaller , less expensive battery for cranking your motor and eliminate any potential problems there. The trolling motor shouldn't be too hard to check out for a short.

Ahh, it's just the learning pains of owning a boat. I should have realized that something (short) took out the trolling motor switch to begin with.

Unplug your trolling motor.check your fuses on your start battery to see if your dash wiring comes back. Check to see if your trim works.if you can get that much you still can operate with no trolling.motor
