Love your content! Keep it up! :) I find it weird that your consumption test shows a much higher average consumption than what I have on my own P2 (nonPP) I commune from Oslo-Gardermoen every day, where i average about 90-95km/h on the 52km trip and my consumption in january has been between 23.8-24.4 kWh/100km and i even have a skiboks on top of the car! In early december without the skiboks i averaged about 18.8.19.2 kWh/100km on the commute! The charging speed you have had is identical with mine, hopefully they will create some preheating software, since the hardware is already in the car :) Love the car to bits!
@KrisRifa3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I think the higher consumption here is because of the rest of the trip in 110kph zones after Gardermoen with elevation changes. The part from Kolomoen to Brumunddal is also usually much colder than in the Oslo-Gardermoen. Remember, consumption at 110kph+ is much higher than around 90kph.

Thanks 😊 I got a new camera a few weeks ago, and I´m still learning how to use it properly regarding settings, focusing, exposure, shutter speed etc. I had my old camera for three years and I knew it inside out. It will take some time before I get the settings correct. The type of filming I do demands a lot from a camera because of the constant changing environment, changing weather and light direction, in and out of cars (dark interior to sunny daylight and back). Then filming my self and then interior bits, screens and the passing environment. But I do think the picture quality is a huge step up from my old Canon, so we´ll see if I stick with this new Sony.

Another great video! 👍 Would be interesting to switch wheels with a Model 3 without heat pump and compare the range, driven together 100-0%. These wheels are not only smaller, they are narrower and more aero.. Another test I'd like to see is how much energy is needed to charge from 0-100% and measure the efficiency based on that. You can also compare your 10-80% results. 🙂

I feel the Polestar 2 is a very well packaged car (and you wouldn't expect anything different, coming from a Volvo-sister), stylish, etc. But it really struggle a bit in the strictly EV part. @lars-ove87493 жыл бұрын
A question for you Kris. When you do the efficiency testing do you always check the tire pressure before starting? It’s not that rare to get a rental car or a car you test from a dealer that has way to high or low tire pressure. And depending on the rim/tire it’s not always obvious when you just look at the tires. To much or to low doesn’t make a huge difference but it do make a difference, that you can control compared to the weather for example.

@Chrisb8s3 жыл бұрын
As EV enthusiasts, I do think that we get caught up too much into the efficiency and range of a car. I know that it is important, maybe more when the range was about 100 miles, but now, just about all new EVs have good range for day to day driving. Imagine if range and efficiency was a major factor back when we bought Ice cars. We would all be driving a Prius! BUT, it's not all about that and I appreciate that you talk about the comfort and driving feel for the car. I can't wait to see the new Tesla Model S, I do think that they spent some time on the noise issue and with noise cancelling sound and dual pane windows and other tweaks, it will be awesome. My wife and I own a Tesla and a Volvo and while I love my Tesla, the Volvo is much more comfortable on long trips The amazing seats, make a huge difference.
@KrisRifa3 жыл бұрын
Personally I find the range and efficiency thing with EVs very interesting, especially because there aren´t many people out there doing it except Bjørn and a few others. One of the main reasons I do these various range tests is so people can see that you can drive far and for several hours in a EV on a charge. And with the best ones, you´ll be wanting to stop for a break before the car has to charge. The more testing, awareness and exposure this type of content gets, the better for the general public.
@SirHackaL0t.3 жыл бұрын
Tesla’s also don’t give full speed when the SOC is very low. But the low charging rate of the Polestar must be annoying when they say it’s supposedly 150kw capable.

The only exception here is the e-tron. Everything else has similar charging curves. I was complaining about that point myself but in comparison with other cars that are currently available! the Polestar charges pretty well. Still needs a little fine tuning though.

@davetravels92733 жыл бұрын
No, these batteries have a buffer, so you never charge them fully, and they have advanced battery management systems. Generally, figure 5% segregation per 100,000 km, so generally you won't start to really notice it until after 300,000 km. HOWEVER, this heavily depends on the battery chemistry, cooling system, climate, and how often you fast charge. If you only charge via a dc fast charger, expect higher degradation etc. There are a lot of factors, but so far, most newer EVs with active liquid cooling will not have any meaningful degradation for the first 200-300k kms.
