Excellent. Thank you. The Polestar reminds me of my old Saab 9000 Aero. The seats in my old Aero were probably as good as seats could be made for a car IMO. Personally the Polestar seats while not quite as good as my old Aero, are way more comfortable compared to the Model Y. This is important for anyone with lower back ‘issues’.

But they are the same still and geely is building a future together for the future. The Swedish work will go on forever and with the Geely it will make great work world wide.

Another great video Martin. Your detailed knowledge of the vehicles you assess and the options that should be considered make Wisely videos essential viewing for all used EV buyers. I very much doubt that other dealers would know of features deleted during the chip shortage and the fact that they can now be installed foc. Key fob situation is not just crazy but a rip off. I just don’t understand Polestar’s thinking which certainly seems contrary to the Volvo/Polestar ethical and sustainability ethos. For a car designed as suitable for longer trips and one particularly popular with business drivers I think it is a major omission that ACC is not standard. It really is rubbing salt into the wound by providing the physical buttons without the functionality. IMHO the interior ambience of the Polestar is nicer than the Tesla M3 and whilst not as sophisticated the central touch screen is easier to use - helped by having physical controls for fast use. If however you are a high mileage driver there is absolutely no substitute for the speed, reliability, convenience and time savings of the Tesla Supercharger network. The Tesla is therefore the better business tool but the Polestar nicer to live with and doesn’t give you the brain overload which you sometimes get when figuring out to turn on or adjust a function in the Model 3.

I just picked up my new single motor Polester a few days ago and I love it would 100% pick it over the tesla. It just needs to be about 3 inches longer as the rear leg room is almost nothing if you have 2 adults in the back. Great Video I'll be tuning in for more

Thanks for some great info there. Polestar extended the warranty to 4 years on early cars, some say all cars that were ordered in 2020 but do you know if there's a definitive cut-off date / VIN number for that? Also I've heard you can't buy extended Polestar warranty if the car has already passed its 3rd birthday, and even early ones with the extended 4 year warranty apparently you need to have bought the warranty before 3 years old?

And Volvo owns 18% of polestar now and Volvo cars gave away 60% of there shares in polestar to there own share holders for free to make sure take a step away from each other so people know its two different company’s. Geely owns this two Swedish car company’s. Volvo x Polestar will forever work together forever.

These are fairly cheap in Southern California right now, now I know to factor keys into the price. Unfortunately it looks like we need more consumer protection legislation. Someone needs to do a hack on that ridiculous key situation . Great helpful info!

Just for clarity, it's only the small activity fob which is sealed for life. The big key has a user-replaceable CR2032 battery.

I’m so impressed by your knowledge! What annoys me about EVs are the claimed range, I think it’s a precursor to the diesel gate affair. They should just be honest with the range not give us lab conditions which is irrelevant

The lab Numbers are not the company’s numbers. It’s the test worker company’s that put the numbers out. But it’s true for sure what you saying. Just got Polestar 2 because that as close at you come to a real car with a great build.

Also the 2022 model year can have the pixel LEDs, but you're basically looking for cars from October '21 till just around end of January '22 I think. Ideally, the spec should say "Pilot Lite" if it doesn't come with the pixel LEDs. 2022 model cars from November '21 and onwards were without a kick sensor on delivery, but I think around summer they started delivering them again. Delivery of the retrofits are supposed to be free since, well, it's part of the car you bought. But it took me about a year before mine was fitted. (Received mine Dec '21.)

IMHO there is a lot to recommend about the Polestar 2. I think it is especially attractive to those more conservative motorists moving to an EV because the Polestar very much shares the attributes that we expect from a Volvo - good build, sensible design and comfort. Compared with the Tesla Model 3 it also has the flexibility of a rear hatch. SatNav and Infotainment system intuitive and being Google software is fast. The system is not the most sophisticated and annoyingly the car has buttons to access functions that are not available on the lower spec models. Very good value as a used buy as you don’t risk the iffy paint and build quality on (older) Tesla Model 3’s. A sensible if not exciting choice.

The sports key battery is replaceable, per se, but you gotta tear open the key to get to it. Won't be waterproof after. But the battery itself within the key is a standard size iirc.

Had a couple as hire cars recently. Liked them a lot however neither had the glass roof which made the surprisingly tight cabin very dark. Nice as it was I would get the Model 3 as I find them more fun to drive and prefer the interior.

I'll be buying my first EV next month and I've pretty much narrowed it down to a used P2 or a Model Y. Tesla just reduced the discount on a new MY so a used P2 is looking really enticing. I can get a used '22 P2 with LRDM and 11k miles for $33k USD. I'm sort of hoping Model Ys will be discounted again soon but if not I think I'll just go with the P2.

I like the P2 but concerned about long term over Tesla m3. It is more expensive and less efficient and costs more to run. Do you have used newer models for sale?

I can confirm that the Polestar 2 TPMS system works *very* quickly when there is a puncture. I had a puncture and was notified immediately. I pulled over after 1/4 mile (soonest possible) and the tire was still partially inflated and it finished deflating while I watched it, so it must have detected the puncture after a couple of pounds of loss.

Haha repair can take months? Mine took almost two years and the car still has issues. The last repair fixed the screens and all electronics turning off but the car still sees ghosts as it randomly brakes and sometimes pretty dangerously hard.

It’s only the small activity key that can’t have a battery replacement. If you’re under manufacturer warranty it may be replaced provided it’s not user abuse that’s caused it to fail. Digital key on your mobile phone is a 3rd option. The main larger key fob can have its battery replaced.

The I-PACE is still an amazing EV, and unless you need the best efficiency or charging speeds (i.e. you can charge at home most of the time), it's a fantastic deal at the moment!

That's it then. I was thinking that a Polestar 2 might be my next car. But having to pay £137 every 2 years for a new key fob (instead of around £1 for a new battery, as in my current Mazda) is the sort of rip-off which I cannot live with. It makes me think that anything which a Polestar may need to keep it going would mean adding a few zeros to the cost of the same job on a more mainstream car.

The keys should really have a rechargable battery and by inserting the key into the slot it should power the car on and recharge the battery. This way it can be water-proof and last the lifetime of the car.

The large main key has a replaceable battery. You can have a digital key that works with your mobile phone. Only the smaller buttonless activity key battery can’t be replaced. If you’re under warranty the activity key may be replaced if it’s only a dead battery and not user damage.
