🚤🌴 POLICE BOATS OF HAULOVER INLET | Marine Patrol
In the 1980's Haulover Inlet was the preferred entryway for the cocaine cowboys of the era. Mickey Munday an infamous drug trafficker rented the top floor of the Harbour House, and allowed his girlfriend to live there as a lookout. She was equipped with large binoculars and communications equipment, her mission was to lookout for police and coast guard activity at Haulover and assist the drug boats as they entered Miami. The building is now the Ritz Carlton Bal Harbour, which is the white resort that you see on the on the South side on the inlet.
Today Haulover Inlet is one of the most patrolled water entries into Miami.

I’m shocked at the lack of SAFE BOATS down there. I know they aren’t cheap but I’m surprised none of the PDs have any... all the departments up here in MA have them, and oh man what a difference.. SAFE Boats truly blow my mind when it comes to their handling and solis build..

HAULOVER INLET BOATS they are expensive and I use to think they were overpriced also until my department got a 24 CC then a full cabin 31... which amazingly both vessels operate and feel the same. When behind the helm of the 31, you feel just as agile. Let’s face it, boats in general are just plain overpriced haha but I’ve driven a lot of boats mostly 20-30 feet including low end boats to higher end boats like Grady’s and Regulators; nothing comes close to operating a SAFE boat. First of all they’re build like tanks. Our oldest SAFE boat is 8 years old I believe and used every day. The only repairs ever needed were all related to the outboards. These boats also defy everything you’ve learned about operating boats your whole life. It’s basically impossible to catch a Chine or skip, instead it will dig into any corner you throw at her no matter the speed so better hold on tight. The very height of the bow and appearance of the Hull leaves you shocked the first time you take her out in 5-7 ft seas and you discover less hull slapping than any Day boat I’ve been on and shock absorber seats that give you zero discomfort even in the snottiest weather. They’re also designed for patrol obviously so all the features just make the job so much easier, whether you’re boarding a vessel, laying a back board down, and a low draft for getting into shallow areas Deep V wouldn’t be able too. I apologize for the lengthy novel I just wrote, I sound like A paid sponsor for SAFE BOAT (I’m Not) haha. After all that said, my point is that Safe Boats are expensive but I think most people would find they are not really overpriced after operating one for a day.. In my opinion it a department cares enough about their officers safety, care enough about their officers being as capable as possible and Frankly are willing to invest more money now to save money down the line due to a practically endless hull life, they should buy a SAFE BOAT . Again, thanks for the videos! I’m not trying to be argumentative, just offering my humble opinion.

Do they have “go fast” boats patrolling the inlets in south Florida now? Many boat owners leaving any of those outlets in a, “let’s say a 42’ Fountain with twin 700SCI engines”, wouldn’t worry about stopping for the LE boats I’ve seen. Even at the LOTO they’re running 38’ Scarabs with 440hp standard Mercury big blocks. They prob will run 65mph. For the individuals with no regard for law….Especially at night, with FLIR, why would those peeps have any concern about being caught by LE?? Just saying. lol I’m am purely speculating that an individual with a high performance boat wouldn’t have concern about being caught in almost 100% of the LE boats I’ve seen online snd in person. I’ve even seen boats with “drop down” barriers to block the boats ID number. Just a VERY obvious observation, and one that peeps have bragged about.

There is no such thing as the Miami-Dade County "Sheriff" as you have in your video several times, the correct name is the Miami-Dade County Police. Although its true that most county law enforcement is done by a Sheriff's Office, this isn't the case everywhere with some places - like Miami - Dade - having County Police. Nice video otherwise.
