Police Chief Arrested for Drunk Driving

In today's exclusive, we present footage from the September 12, 2021, DUI arrest of Olla, Louisiana Chief of Police Jody O'Bier. Watch as Chief O'Bier states that training for Louisiana law enforcement officer includes guidance that if they - meaning, the officers-to-be - are ever arrested on suspicion of drunk driving, they should refuse all tests.
According to the report of Caldwell Parish Sheriff's Office Deputy Dustin Hatten, at approximately 2:17 a.m. on September 12, 2021, Hatten was patrolling US-165 near LA-847 when he observed a sedan on the shoulder of the road, and a male subject, later identified as O'Bier, standing outside the vehicle. Hatten approached the vehicle to investigate and possibly render assistance. When Hatten approached, it became apparent the subject was Olla Chief of Police Jody O'Bier... standing at the rear of the vehicle urinating.
Hatten asked if O'Bier was, in fact, urinating, and O'Bier responded "Yep."
From the report of Deputy Hatten: "As Jody gathered himself and turned to face me, he stumbled and fell against the vehicle. I detected a moderate odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from his person, his speech was slurred as he spoke and he could not complete a sentence without stumbling his words. Jody advised he had one Ginger Ale with alcohol at an establishment in West Monroe prior to driving.
I then spoke with the female passenger, Kirstie Bryan who stated she had also been drinking but had consumed less than Jody. Without me asking further questions she advised she could drive the vehicle if needed, but it would be difficult due to her not knowing how to drive a standard transmission. After speaking with Kirstie, I offered the opportunity for Jody to perform Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, to which he denied stating he was trained not to do so.
It should also be noted the interior of the vehicle had a moderate odor of an alcoholic beverage. Jody was placed under arrest and transported to CCC by Deputy T. Ferguson where he was offered the opportunity to submit a breath sample using the Intoxilizer 9000 to which he refused. He was arrested and booked for suspicion of driving while intoxicated. The vehicle was released to a friend, Justin Carr, who Kirstie left the scene with. Nothing further. Case closed with arrest made."
Investigation by Real World Police reveals that Kirstie Bryan and Jody O'Bier appear to have shared the same residence at the time of O'Bier's arrest.
In November 2022, Jody O'Bier, who had been previously appointed to fill a vacancy in the office of the chief of police, won election to the position. After having been himself arrested.

This guy was recently elected to the position of chief for the same department whereas during this arrest he was there by appointment to fill a vacancy. That tells us that either the population there was never informed of any of this, or that they figure having a chief that was arrested for DUI will help them should they ever be arrested for it. I know this utter zero who became a cop in a small hilltown in New England and celebrated that evening by getting hammered and driving through the center of town doing 100 miles per hour. He got pulled over - not by a town cop, but a state trooper who immediately arrested him and took him to jail. He's become known as the cop-not-cop in a twelve hour span within said town. True story.

The thing about all these drunk driving arrests is they've been doing it for years and years and only finally got caught. I was the same way...I got away with it so many times but all it takes is one bad trip to seriously hurt someone. It is absolutely 10000% not worth it but you have to either conquer the addiction or take every precaution necessary so that if you're going to get drunk you have a place to sleep.

He made the right choice but watch them deal with a regular civilian and they don't hesitate to find any way to investigate them , even when there are no signs of intox and they say they smell alcohol or other drugs as a reason to intimidate and get the person out of their vehicle so they can fish. This guy is an intoxicated police chief he should have been hand cuffed and car checked for weapons and been secured if so , instead of letting the guy stand there babbling on while the officer was obviously contemplating doing what he didn't want to do, any normal person would have been cuffed searched and stuff in the car as soon as they refused fields and without hesitation.

It's frustrating. For one, he's clearly intoxicated and behind the wheel. That alone is extremely irresponsible and dangerous. But then they carefully approach him with as much kindness as possible, when you know for a fact they would've been far more aggressive if he wasn't one of the "good ol' boys in blue".

Has no business being Chief. He's picking and choosing his laws. "We've all been trained to say no" to FST's but switches up it's illegal to be dropped off of "under the legal limit" to get a ride with his passenger. I never knew Police don't do FST's and are trained to say No... Since when are they above the law and not REQUIRED to take them if under the influence? Sheesh . Recall this guy if he's not terminated.

At least he admitted that they are all trained to refuse tests something not many have ever said but us citizens need to learn to refuse these tests once they take you out of that car they are arresting you regardless of how you perform on their "tests" their mind is made up the second you hear the words "I'm gonna need you to step out of the vehicle".

There's zero chance refusing field/breath tests are in the training circircumum. He just misspoke because he's drunk. Every cop knows that the less evidence (field sobriety or breath test). the cops have of DUI then the more likely you're lawyer can get you off. Same goes for civilians.

It's obviously not in the by the book training just like all the other messed up sht cops do but it is what they are told "off the record" the tests and questions are to build evidence for a case not to exonerate you.

All the tests are extra evidence they are gathering. You can refuse to the point that they will have to get a search warrant for a blood test. Best practice if having a bad day is to stay home while drinking & throw some ketchup at the walls.

I blew 1 point over the limit 30 yrs ago. The patrolman that pulled me got a DUI actually crashed injured others. When I went to court they wanted a plea. My attorney said not guilty.. the patrolman was fired a month before my court date. Unavailable to take the stand. The judge actually thought I'd plea guilty 😁 my attorney contacted everyone he arrested for DUI and all were dismissed.

So it's now been made public that every cop is trained to say no to sobriety test... So that means anyone that gets pulled over, absolutely do not do it. I did it before and it completely screwed me. It's kind of disgusting how they try to pressure everyone else into taking them and arrest them anyway, knowing that they're all not dumb enough to ever agree to it. And how is it that semi truck driver gets in more trouble for drinking and driving then law enforcement does?

Here was that in LA, where the two town Marshalls shot and severely injured a man and killed his young son while they were in a truck? It was over a damn white girl the black town Marshall was screwing. It was two black “ Marshalls “ like a deputy sheriff equivalent, ran down and shot that man and killed his son in the gunfire. Anyway that was fckn scary that the Law Enforcement there was that bold that they thought they could get away with doing that.

That’s a damn shame, my dad was a detective who got busted doing some not so lawful stuff with some of the drugs… years and years ago. He’s clean and sober now, and he was a damn fine cop in his prime, but his demons caught up to him and he was rightfully terminated. No sympathy for either, cops need to be held to higher standards.
