Thanks, I'm still very confused by something you said. I am the spouse of a Canadian citizen. We both live in Costa Rica since 2009. I am Italian, and since I turned 18 I lived in Ireland, France, Spain, Italy, USA, and Costa Rica. Do I need all of those police certificates? What do you mean "since I became a PR" if the police certificates are required in order to become a PR?

Hi madam, i want to ask, i was in Yemen before year 2013-2014, and we left due to war and can't able to apply for PCC and also the old passport i used before where my visa was stamped is also missing that's why i took police report and affidavit from lawyer in the Philippines. No chance also to go back in Yemen because of safety. Is is Canada accepting explanation letter that i can't provide PCC from Yemen? Thank you! I hope you can read my comment and give an answer. Hi, why they don't ask for PPC when applying for a work visa in Canada! I applied under the public policy and no body ask for PPC

It’s true, many visa offices do not ask for PCCs, I always include them with my temporary applications anyway.

I had a PCC issued from the US back in 2020, but I have travelled to India a few times since (but never stayed there for 6 months in a row). i was asked for PCC from Peru which is stayed less than two months in total in 2 different trips in 2015 and 2016. why did they ask me for it? what can I do? (the Peruvian embassy says it can be issued only for the residents and citizens) .....please help me!

You can write to them and explain that you were only there for 2 months, and Peru’s policy. If IRCC writes back and says that they still want the document, then you may have to hire a foreign lawyer in Peru to get it for you.

Hi Theodore, Just the Federal clearance, unless you have criminality issues, and then state clearances are needed. Also remember you’re applying for permanent residency, citizenship comes later.

Hi there, what I mean by this is when you were last living actively in the country, so if you were there until August 2021, you’ll need a PCC issued after August 2021.

Technically it’s only required from the visa offices who request it. It’s our practice to include them for every country in which you’ve lived for 6 months or more in the past 10 years, even for temporary applications, such as a work permit.

Yes, because those applicants can still be sponsored, so you need to show that they are admissible to Canada.

Yes, however IRCC needs to request this, you cannot apply for the police certificate upfront, therefore you can file without it.

No, it's just for the period for which you were a Permanent Resident. In rare cases they may ask for it during processing.

I recently received an ADR request which was as such, Police Certificate: Please provide an original police clearance certificate updated since October, 2020. This must be received at this office by: 2022/04/03. I got my ITA on Nov 2020 and AOR on Dec 2020 and I submitted all the necessary PCC from the only 2 countries I have lived for more than 6 months which is my home country and COR. I haven't traveled to my home country since even before I submitted my application. I am unable to understand this line as no country has been specifically mentioned as I know that usually the required country is mentioned. Hello! Thanks for the informative video ☺️ I just submitted EOI for ONIP and need to start preparing documents. I have a Japanese police certificate (in English) and the document with fingerprints. The police certificate doesn't have expiring date but the fingerprints one is expired as it has been over 6 months since I got it. ( I got it in July 2021). It will take around 4 months to get a Japanese police certificate, so I want to use those if I need to submit right away. therefore I wonder whether the certificates are valid or if I could submit without fingerprints as it says the expired date. Hi Nina, Police certificates for Immigration purposes are valid for 1 year, or indefinitely if issued after you last resided in that country.

He is 20 years old and we were nominated for SINP. The Police Clearance Certificates requires that he has to be a resident of UAE. What can we do now as we cannot apply for clearance? Is an explanation letter enough to clear this requirement for him?

I would email the police authorities in the UAE and get proof from them that they will not issue this. You should also include a LOE with evidence that you have tried to obtain this.

@@JadeCalver Hi Jade, thanks for the response. I’m just wondering if the requirements for the PR via express entry and PR via PNP (non-express entry) were intentionally worded differently. In my case for PNP it didn’t say “for the past 10yrs or since age of 18, which ever is more recent”, but instead “since the age of 18” as stated in my document checklist IMM5690, so that basically covered by residence in Qatar last 2009. I’m concerned whether I’m doing this unnecessary steps or not, so it keeps holding back my paper-based submission of my PR application. Your expert advice would be highly appreciated. Thanks!

You are not issued a work permit until you come to Canada, usually if someone is asking you for money, and if you haven’t provided extensive amounts of documentation, then it’s likely not legitimate.
