You're right and one more reason football should end. Great to have sports however football has been revered to many years and has allowed players to get away with poor behavior, rape, preferential treatment on and off the field. In the end football is nothing compared to life. Football and mis-management of funds for just that program (football) has clobbered Washington State University and caused teaching staff cuts within the university and will cripple it for years to come. Even if you unintentionally hit a ref you can get ejected or penalized. ACTUALLY HIT a ref in pro sports you can get suspended for the season, or a lifetime ban.

According to police the odor of marijuana in the vehicle lead to search where plastic bags containing 6 grams of cocaine were discovered. He was then charged with manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance, which is a second-degree felony in Texas carrying a potential prison sentence of 5-99 years and a fine of up to $10,000. The assault charge for the football incident was still ongoing at the time of his arrest.

I kept the score one year for a few high school football games. I was considered an official and had to wear the stripes. My first game, one of the other officials told me to take off the stripes right after the game and leave right away, because officials tend to catch a lot of crap. I think he said it was worse coming from the fans than the players. Not the most appreciated job.

What a despicable, low, cowardly act! Vicious attacks like that should carry a minimum 10 year prison sentence. He was what, 40 years younger and 100 pounds heavier, plus attacked him while the ref never saw him coming. I wouldn't care if it was a team-mate, my best friend or my son, if they did that they would lose all respect and I would support any legal action against them.

There's 2 things my dad guaranteed as a kid and even now 1) never assault a woman 2) never attack another man in a cowardly manner Since this is option 2 yeah my soul would definitely be leaving my body multiple times if that ever happened, and that's if he heard about it while at work. Cowardice, especially as an athlete, is the penultimate sign of weakness and when demonstrated in children, is a failure of parenting or complete lack thereof

I hope the ref recovers. Well everyone, the kid too because you don't want to lose your temper like that. One good thing about this is I think the players and staff from both sides really worked to cool things down. They clearly tried to prevent it from escalating and did a good job.

You can tell that this kid was not brought up correctly and he was probably on a path of doing things like this and worst if he can't control his anger and actions and doesn't think twice about making poor decisions. He reflects on a lot of people in his neighborhood and nationality. I know he is young, but he needs to learn to control himself, he is not a toddler!

@@xmathmanx say what you want, I grew up in a Barrio, dealing with gangs, getting into fights, taking drugs, stealing, living in a shack and a poor H.S. student, I had a 1.3 GPA but I moved on after HS and re-education myself in a Jr college, then moved to the next level and got an Electronic Engineering degree from one of the best engineering colleges on the West Coast, California Poly SLO, and later got a Masters Degree in Software Engineering. My mother was my influence, she taught English at the college level, my dad was born in Mexico and never made it to HS, but he had a strong work ethic and these genes are all I needed. Not everyone in my family did as well, so genes aren't a guarantee, it comes down to the person making their own decisions, and that is on you. I couldn't care less about color! My statement is based on my own experience.

This is not new in Texas Football. When you hold up athletes more than scholars then that makes people arrogant. The coaching staff is to blame IMO. As a coach I would have pushed him to ground not calmed him down. He was hurting the team. They seemed like they were just supporting a team mate who was in a fight instead of someone who did a criminal act on a defenseless person.
