While detaining two suspicious Florida men, FWC Officer's discovered pet carrier containing a rattle snake. The men claimed to know nothing about the venomous snake. They also claimed "They don't mess with snakes" but a simple search of the suspects social media proves this to be very false.

When I was a kid, we would stay at out condo in St. Augustine Beach Fl, I used to find snakes to keep as pets. I once found a Black Indigo which I later found out was a rare and valuable species, I went to the Alligator farm with my Dad and told them about it. They basically begged me to give it to them for their shake room and were willing to trade any snake (non poisonous) I wanted for it. My Dad convinced me to release it, so I did.

Not 100% but I think some of the Florida WMA allow hog hunting year round hence the officer asking that. Considering that is a public spot with BBQ grills and shelters the officer didn't see him in possession of it and they have no snake hooks or bags or other things for possessing snakes just because he took a piss by the snake and has tattoos and zip ties that's why the prosecutor didn't want to pursue it even if they seen the pictures on his social media because that's a public place and they were not in possession but we all know that they were the ones collecting snakes and I bet there were bags in the woods or a third person that has all the equipment and that's why they didn't want to leave when the officers told them they were free to leave

This officer is terrible at his job. He takes the gun and turns his back to the suspects. He walks with suspects to boat while leaving gun on table. Not knowing if anyone else was in the woods or not. He then walks back to the table with suspects and he leaves them behind, while he goes into the woods. All while they are close to the gun. Bottom line is he could have been shot plenty of times. This guy is far too trusting. I hope his supervisor educated him about his failures and he learns. Some of the most evil people in the world seems harmless just looking at them.

It is possible Someone could have hidden the snake and was going to pick it up at night and the 2 guys just happened to be there at the wrong time like they said.I’ve seen crazier stuff happen

Are they guilty? Probably. However, the officer almost admitted, before muting, that he didn't see the guy mess with the bag with the snake. They have no evidence and the guys did right by keeping their mouth shut.

don't admit to it possessing that snake without a permit is a felony and you can go to prison up to five years it used to be a misdemeanor but HB 1161 changed things and made things more strict
