Police hold news conference on deputy being shot at Boise traffic stop

The deputy had been conducting a traffic stop when a person in the vehicle shot them and drove off Saturday night.

Irresponsible to call this gang violence when the perp was a 65 y/o white guy with a $3k misdemeanor warrant. Dude was probably angry with law enforcement & the legal system for his poor life choices & chose to go out in a blaze of glory. RIP Deputy, may your sacrifice never be forgotten.😔🙏🏼

Sad day. Reminds me of the fall of 97' when Officer Stahl was killed in downtown Boise by two brothers from Pennsylvania... Interesting, Chief Winegar was an officer and was with him at the time. He was also shot, and injured during that shooting all those years ago. Rip deputy Bolter. Thanks for your service. Will say a prayer for your family and the citizen who helped him after the incident.

The government isn't responsible for making this guy a selfish pos. Since we can't start with him personally, i would start by looking at his upbringing, since he obv. had NO moral compass. Who taught him to be so selfish that he'd take someone's life to avoid going to jail for 2 minutes?? Maybe they should be held responsible since THE INDIVIDUAL WHO DID THE BAD THING is taking a dirt nap with satan? Why would your first thought be to blame the government for not stopping a single person in YOUR community who murdered another person instead of following societies rules? They can't fix the derangements he had that made it ok for him to do that. That's really up to the individual first, then his immediate family & those who interacted with him regularly, and lastly his community that interacts with him intermittently to notice signs of a problem but then to also speak up. That's 3 layers of failure by people who didn't either redirect early in life or speak up to someone who could help later in life. That's not the gvmnts responsibility. It's ours. Do you see that you're just repeating a tired narrative instead of using rational thought & trying to understand the real problem? He was a sick, selfish individual who murdered someone and caused irreparable damage to countless others. He himself was to blame, not the lack of restrictive laws that he would not have followed anyways.
