One of my funny ones was going with my partner to a suspected burglary in progress during the night The house had high wooden fences so she decided to climb over using a wheelie bin to stand on Good idea but it was dark with no street lights so we didn't see that the bin lid was broken so she stood on it and all you heard was a loud scream as the lid gave way and she went straight down into the bin!! In those days there were no body cameras and mobile phones to take photos Oh I wish we had them then haha

An old friend of mines father was a dog handler for Darlington and surrounding area, had a wicked sense of humour, 2 stories I have. The first, for some reason he didn't have his dog this night but had a full proper dog Halloween mask, responded to a non Dom burglary call, announced his police with dog presence, barked and entered wearing the mask. Perp surrendered without incident. 2nd was a fight in Darlo town centre, a few things happened in this one, 1st he forgot to apply the handbrake so cctv caught the van slowly roll back in to Pease Monument and second, once the dog caught the geezer , he struggled and fought this officer i mention, it almost looks like the officer chins the guy on the deck due to how this duckegg on the ground had hold of the officers wrist, who had to do a sharp twist and pull motion which broke the grip. But then his dog went in and bit the guy right on the unmentionables. Was incredible to watch as caught on cctv and saved my mates dad as the prick tried to sue.

Definitely agree on pigeons and rabbits. In my car once, at 30, a pigeon landed in front of me, saw me coming, took off and just became a cloud of feathers. And as a truck driver at night, rabbits have gone under the wheels. Same with a cat once. Ran out on front of me and just gone. And I’m pretty sure I hit a baby deer once on the A15 in Lincolnshire on the way up towards the Humber bridge. You do feel bad. You cringe when it’s going to happen, but it’s just the nature of driving sometimes. There’s not always time to respond and miss it.

Ben you must be talking about wood pigeons, the most kamikaze bird on the planet, I've had 4 get destroyed from flying straight into the work van, 1 hit the top of the windscreen on the M1 Sheffield, 1 hit the passenger window just as my bestmate closed the window near steaphenage on the M1, 1 hit the side of the van on the M60 guts went all down the side and the last 1 was on the M6 near the RAC Offices, all Kamikaze wood pigeons never fly up always seems to be in a straight line level with vehicles, I have almost gone down a cliff on the scenic route going to Edinburgh avoiding what looked like a hare

Ive hit 2 pigeons when driving. One decided to fly out of a bush into my front grille and was just a cloud of feathers. I drive trains for a living, and see some wonderful wildlife out there. Admittedly I do kill a lot of it too. It’s a daily occurrence hitting pigeons and pheasants, they really are stupid. I’ve hit 2 Monkjack deer, a badger, a couple of foxes, really hate hitting buzzards and red kites tho. Almost hit a cat once, was so funny watching it run ahead of me as I’d slowed down, and it trying to jump away but bounced off the fence back into my path 3 times before shooting out of the end of the station and disappearing up the road 😂. A pheasant came off a field beside the line on e day, and I saw it coming, we’re gonna hit, we’re gonna hit.. BANG. Windscreen smashed to bits. Think it’s been eating ballast! Great video Ben, keep em coming. Best wishes 👍👍

I agree. I drive an hgv for a living and get at least 4 pigeons a year. They try to fly away in the direction I'm travelling. Even seen one look back to see if he was winning before he wrapped himself around the front of cab mirror. The one I feel bad about was a badger at 1am in the new forest. We made eye contact shortly before he went under the wheels. He looked up in slow motion I looked back and said sorry mate. Felt like a speed bump

I was driving around 40-50mph and a pheasant jumped In front of my car with a bang, couldn't see it in my rear view so I figured it escaped. 10ish minutes later when I got to my destination I saw a feather float up from Infront of the bonnet, and as I was driving into the carpark a bobby car was coming out and both officers were glaring at the front of my car. The pheasant was stuck by the foot in the front grill. Edit: forgot to mention it lived for the two hours I waited for a vet's to be open before I dumped it on them, and the bobbies came back, probably to check that I wasn't torturing an animal.

As people can see I have a very popular surname. I also have a very common first name too. Anyway about 5 years ago the police came to arrest me for missing court for drink driving. I thought what??? I have never been arrested before and certainly not done any drink driving. Any the police were there for about 20 mins and it turns out that it was someone else that has the same name as me and almost the same DOB and they had got my address instead of his. Luckily that got a photo of the guy they were looking for and they did my fingerprints and see it wasn’t me. But yes that was a scary moment and one of them situations that you go in a dream like state thinking this can’t be really happening.

I think pigeons see the world at the equivalent of over 100-120fps, whereas human eyesight is around 25-30fps equivalent (so moving pictures at less than that point will look like separate static images instead of smooth movement). It's believed this means motion IRL then looks like it's moving at a third of the speed it would to a human. Frames Per Second (FPS, for screens, cameras when recording, etc) equivalent doesn't seem to translate exactly, I think tests showed they can tell a moving picture is just lots of static images being shown in rapid succession up to that 120 fps point but their visual processing (or whatever you want to call it) happens about 3 times faster than with a human. (At least this is what I could find Googling what I thought I remembered, 125fps equivalent, which I was going to comment as 100fps initially as I thought that was very fast, but apparently not far off). This is believed to be why they wait so long before taking off with a car bearing down on them at 60-90mph, it theoretically looks like a car doing 20-30mph would to a human, and we know how late some humans leave it to cross in front of one doing that speed. :)

Touch wood, I’ve never hit an animal with my car, although I’ve been a passenger when a deer has run into the side of the car (it ran away a bit disoriented but was okay). I’ve had close shaves too with deer, squirrels, pigeons, crows, but let me tell you, pheasants are the thickest of them all. Ask anyone that lives in the countryside and they will tell you that pheasants are the stupidest things in existence 😂

My upstairs neighbour was shall we say 'known to police' - he never as far as I knew did anything really naughty, but he was a 'bit of a lad' as they say. The local cops all knew him, and it got to the stage where they'd knock on our door before going up, as they knew we had a spare key 🤣 The problem came when somebody decided to inform the drugs squad that he had a load of stuff in his flat. They of course didn't talk to the local uniforms and so didn't know about our spare key. It took no less than 19 hits with the big red key to get in, of course there was nothing to be found, some arsehole had given them duff info, but his two cats were scared witless for days 😿 It took the council 6 months to replace the damaged door...
