OP, You do realize that your mom literally kidnapped you, and held you against your will. I do hope that's part of the lawsuit.

For the pool party, I would have insisted on a warrant. She technically filed a false report to get the police to come out and harass you. Again, the police should asked for a warrant, or have to leave. Also, a pool is not legal or illegal, so it's not a police matter. It's a civil matter whether it violates some building code or town ordinance.

The last story-----------I am WAY to vindictive. It would not take long for dear Mommy and Daddy to NEVER want to see me again for the rest of their miserable lives. I am a guy, so there is that, but I can be just as deceitful and sneaky as these awful parents were. They would have massive trouble with everything that they owned. I would not care if it was "legal" or not! I am a good friend, but I am a vicious enemy.

Wow, what a bunch of entitlement! The OP has an accident, and had serious medical consequences and her mother takes advantage of her situation to control her and her boyfriend's lives! It is insane how one person could commit all of thse crimes and total ruin a person's life just to control them. I hope the EM is prosecuted to the full extent of the law for all of the crimes she committed!!

Jake's employer actually has every right to be upset over this -- an employee moving out of state has major tax implications as the employee should be paying tax in the *new* state, not the old one.

Well, since NYS is a higher taxes state than pretty much every other state, the corporate taxes would most likely be less.

My husband works from home. The company he works in one state and we live in another. He pays taxes in both states. The first tax returns is done with company the money is earned. Then we do the tax return for the state we live in. We do get some credit for paying taxes in the first state. Stateliness is less than two miles from the house. It’s very common here.

Last story, harassment, identity theft, forgery, false imprisonment there’s a number of charges that could be filed against your parents in a lawsuit civilly along with criminal charges by police. What ever you sue your parents for I would ask for a permanent restraining order that needs a notary to remove and any contact attempt must be sent to my attorney. I can choose to contact you but without going through my attorney would be a violation of the restraining order. As well as monetary damages and make them pay for identity theft coverage.

The OP describes her mother as "entitled " , which she definitely is, but I find it curious that it's her first choice. "Entitled " is pretty lukewarm to what the woman actually is; abusive, sadistic, possibly narcissistic or a sociopath, and so many more come to mind first. I wonder if her behavior has been like this so much for so long that the family has normalized it. The dad, from what little we're told seems to have just given up.

Boy you better check your figures before throwing around the prices for rent in NYC and mortgage payments in Colorado. A 450 square ft sixth floor walk up apartment in an 1890`s tenement building in Chelsea, NYC costs over $4,500 a month. Not a glamorous apartment. A house a described in Colorado with the swimming pool, 3 car garage st al, would cost over $2 million dollars. And any mortgage payments would be well over $14,000 per month. REALLY BAD FIGURES IN YOUR STORY.

First story is obviously fake. You can't move out of state and not tell your employer, especially not when income tax is involved (which New York and Colorado both do). Not a lawyer or an accountant, just a guy who knows that state governments do not mess around with money that is owed to them.

@@ThomasKent1346 Of course not. If he earned income while living in Colorado then he owed income taxes in Colorado. Any company who found itself in such a situation would instantly inherit a payroll nightmare, and instant firing with just cause would be a lucky outcome for such an employee.

All the company has to do is withhold Federal taxes and it is up to the person to report income file a return and pay any State taxes that are owed. When I retired my retirement board informed me that if I moved out of state they would not withhold monies for my new location and any tax liability would fall on me.
