POLICE SEEK THIRD SUSPECT INVOLVED IN RESIDENTIAL BREAK AND ENTERS AND VEHICLE THEFTS

Investigators with the York Regional Police Integrated Property Crime Task Force (IPCTF) are seeking an additional suspect involved in residential break and enters and motor vehicle thefts across York Region.
In June 2023, four suspects were arrested following an auto theft investigation. Two of those accused, Jackson LAKE, 21, of the City of Richmond Hill and Christian NUNEZ-GARCIA, 21, of the City of London, were charged with Break, Enter and Theft offences in connection with residential break and enters that were being committed to facilitate the theft of motor vehicles.
Investigators believe the suspects are specifically targeting homes in order to steal vehicles. The vehicles are often left in driveways overnight and on two specific occasions the suspects targeted vehicles that had their side mirrors extended, indicating that the vehicles were unlocked. The suspects would then use the garage door opener in the vehicle to enter homes through the garage and obtain the key fobs. They also gained entry through unlocked rear doors of residences to gain access to keys.
IPCTF investigators are releasing an image of a third suspect they believe was working with LAKE and NUNEZ-GARCIA and are asking the public for help in identifying him.
SUSPECT DESCRIPTION:
• Male, Black
• 5’11 to 6”, 150 lbs.
• Mid 20s
• Wearing all black clothing, with pant legs tucked into socks
Police are reminding citizens to ensure your vehicles are always locked and windows are up, even if you leave your vehicle for a short time. Lock all doors to your home, including your inner garage door. Stop by one of our York Regional Police district stations to pick up a free Faraday bag to store your key fob in. The bags are an effective tool used to block signal-duplicating devices that can alter or replicate key fobs.
