Free speech is not absolute. UCLA has the right to impose reasonable time, place, and manner restrictions on free speech. These “protestors” are not practicing free speech but committing vandalism and intimidation. UCLA is a place of learning and research and if these protesters interfere with UCLA’s core functions, they should be promptly arrested and prosecuted. Also, the trend across the country is that at least half or more of these protesters are not students and have no connection with these universities. The same is very likely true at UCLA and that at least half of these protesters are probably anarchist Occupy veterans. On a separate note, these protestors displayed a swastika and Star of David symbol at the first protest, which was highly offensive and antisemitic. Bottom line is that we got the protestors message but with their extremely aggressive in your face tactics and implied calls for the destruction of Israel (“from the river to the sea signs”), intimidation of Jewish students, and embrace of the terrorist organization Hamas and ignoring what Hamas did on October 7, the protestors message is falling on a lot of deaf ears and frankly pissing off a lot of people!

I'll give you everything you say with the significant exception of free speech not being absolute. Nowhere in any of our constitution worked over so intently and signed by our forefathers does it say anything at all about freedom of speech having any limitations... none at all. So you are wrong about that... basically you can say whatever the hell you want to but all of the rest of what they're doing is plenty enough to arrest them for.

I am from Bangladesh. We may be economically poor but police respect our professors and students. They are civilized and never behave like this what we see in the USA universities. We had a lot of student demonstrations and those were successful. In 1990 when the country turned from autocracy to democracy, on the threshold of the revolution, the vanguards of the movement were students. We were independent in 1971. There is not a single stance that police were disrespectful or violent (like what they have done to several professors) TOWARD ANY SIBLE PROFESSOR TO ANY SINGLE UNIVERSITY. Even before our independence, in Pakistan period from 1952, there was nothing like such as what dishonour police did to the respected professors in the USA
