Good police officers are absolutely heroes, and that was never up for discussion.

You can forget a bad chef, a bad actor, maybe even a bad teacher but if you have a bad cardiologist chances are there’s going to be a few choice words for him. I had a friend who lived two floors above a guy who had done the three strikes on DUI, done the jail time, and could never have a license again. When he was drunk and out of beer, he would grab the keys to his car (because the lack of a license doesn't preclude the ownership and registration of a car in my state) and drive down to the package store. Every time my friend saw him, he'd call the town cops direct on the non-911 line, and the call went pretty much like: (names changed) "Townville Police, officer Smith how my I Help you?" "Hi, it's Joe Miller..." "Frank driving again?" "Yep, left two minutes ago." "Thanks' Joe, we'll look for him." - About half the time they would catch the guy driving, and he'd spend the night in jail, and somehow his lawyer always seemed to get him off.

This is because they've realised that long captivity is not a solution, but just an expensive way to delay a problem. This guy should have his license revoked, 2-4 years in a good prison would do that man and society a lot better. They're made to crumple and reduce the impact when another vehicle hitting you gets to the main carriage where you're seated at. So, staying in the vehicle is more safe and more efficient than getting out in the case of some shrapnel flying off and hitting you from the immediate crash. Plus, you can make slight angle adjustments if need be as they get closer. And after the crash in the way they did it, they'd be able to drive after the drunken driver's vehicle after catching a breath from the impact, since they should still be able to drive. @Stephanie Parker I'm guessing they didn't so they could maneuver the car if needed. There's a lot of lanes, the driver could have reasonably swerved around them.

Few years back a wrong way driver wrecked into a jersey family of 6 and only the dad survived, watched it on the news, it was so heartbreaking.

@@JoshuaRodriguez-di4yk probably 10 years ago I was the first on the scene of a similar accident they were three people in the car a mother father and a child all three were killed. I was first on the scene but there was nothing I could do. I went inside the vehicle to try to help but everyone was stuck and I could hear wailing and screams of agony. It was awful!

I came across a wrong way driver coming straight at me and was able to swerve to avoid them. However, the vehicles in the same lane behind me, were not so fortunate and hit them. It's a very scary situation when you're faced with a split second decision. Much respect for those officers.

Same exact experience as yourself. Found out the lady ran her SUV into a 20yr old male, who had a pregnant wife at home (gladly), and killed him. I feel guilty everyday because I didn't take my truck and block the lady from hitting anyone else... A small SUV hitting a full-size pick up is better than hitting a Honda Fit sized car....

@@romokid64 you don't need to feel guilty for such a thing. Your own life was at stake and you made a decision to save it. The person behind you had that same decision to try and make in time along with every other person behind them. It really just comes down to who's the unlucky one they are going to hit.

@@romokid64 there's no need to feel guilty about that. This situation isn't your fault in the slightest. Anybody else likely would've made the same split second decision to avoid a collision at all costs

@@jareembailey7470 Definitely not enough time to get to a safe point. It's difficult to judge the speed of something approaching head on like that, especially with just headlights. Run towards it: risk getting hit, run to the side: probably not enough time, run back: get hit by debris.
