@@williamtopping Never happens unless you're approaching a roundabout or are in lanes separated by an unbroken broad white line with signage to different locations. Also you never pass on the left unless a vehicle is stopped to turn right and it is safe to pass. Dual carriageways and motorways gave the same rule. You NEVER pass in the left. It has nothing to do with switching lanes back again or not, why would you do that anyway if the left lane was clear. Motorways...left lane + overtaking lanes its not a bleeding multiple choice.....

Lane hogging is an offence. The Policeman was driving inconsiderately. It is also the case that if traffic in different lanes on a multi lane road in traffic start to move at different speeds as long as you are not making erratic lane changes then you may continue in the same lane at your previous speed if safe to do so.

The policeman needs further situation training to MAINTAIN CONTROL over such cantankerous road-users. It is quite possible that the 20 MPH limit was exceeded. The policeman should have issued the notice to show all his Documents within seven days and despite what he saId should have been carryIng an original identification document, or a correctly notarised copy of one. Easy to do at your local police station for free. I have been driving/riding motorcycles for 64 years and I have a clean Driving Licence.

Is it that their own vocabulary is somewhat lacking, so, maybe feeling a bit insecure, they like to have a pop at what they perceive as weaker targets? It pisses me off when I use words that I learnt decades ago and some berk comes out with that. Now, to be fair, sometimes it will be true, but it's the speed with which people are so ready to be abusive that annoys me. Clearly, in this case, it isn't true, as if someone _has_ just learnt a new word properly, then they're going to spell it properly. If they are using it from memory, or just heard someone use it, then they're more likely to make a spelling mistake.
