This looks like an Idelized version of what people used to think the Police force was in a average US small town. When I tell people "move to NZ", I'm glad to see that I'm still making a good recommendation. This explains why every performance shop I've ordered parts from (mainly Rotorua and Christchurch) or spoken to has been staffed by the nicest and most helpful people I've ever met. How nice to see Police doing their protecting and serving happily and receiving a level of mutual respect, I am more surprised by the 100% positive comments than anything! Keep up the great work 👏

These Police look very approachable, for just about anything. These videos are really putting a positive message out there for the world to see! Ake! Ake! Kia Kaha E!

City cops have to deal with a lot more trailer park trash on a daily basis . Trash that it don’t matter how many times you tell them they can’t help themselves but get in trouble . In small communities the trash tends to get moved on sooner because they feel the community also against them . In small communities police tend to know where the offenders live and hang out but in cities they can be anywhere . You can’t blame city cops for being more under the pump and cynical .

I'm originally from Westport. In 1955 or 56, i was 15 or 16yo, my eldest brother and a family friend were spotlighting from the road on the Reefton side of The Landing. I was the driver of the ute. A deer was shot over in a paddock, my brother and our mate went to recover the deer, i stayed with the ute. An old car came slowly along the road from Inangahua and stopped opposite, the driver asking me if my vehicle was broken down. Further questions from the driver ensued and i revealed we had shot a deer. The occupants of the old car alighted and came to talk to me, they were Reefton Constables. Our friend had an unregistered rifle, and was duly prosecuted and fined for that. How fair was that, they could have had us for discharging a firearm from the road but did not. Pretty decent i think. Bob W. Later MoT Officer for several years. Wayne Taurima, dog handler Porirua, was a personal friend and colleague of mine mid 1960s.

@nzmarco3 жыл бұрын
If they weren't before, they are now.
@nzpatriot20093 жыл бұрын
@@nzmarco I hear you, but seriously, are any of them born and bred coasters? I only ask because in my teen years there were plenty of cops sent in from other more metropolitan regions to try and change the coasters longstanding way of life, which failed to attain the respect and therefore the compliance of the locals. I’m not saying these are the same, I’m just asking a genuine question mate. I love the coast, and just want it to have its own culture and representation retained.
@nzmarco3 жыл бұрын
@@nzpatriot2009 Hey I love the coast too. I live on the other side of the hill but the coast holds a special place for me. I think times have changed and the cops understand going into towns and stamping authority doesn’t work.
@nzpatriot20093 жыл бұрын
@@nzmarco yeah mate, I live in Marlborough now, left the coast in 1999 to join the RNZAF, but it’s good to go home and enjoy the freedoms I enjoyed as a teenager, the hunting, the spotlighting, the fishing, the campfires on the beach, the four wheel driving, the things I want my kids to enjoy too, the things that are traditional and original kiwi to the core. And cops from Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch don’t generally (there are some exceptions) understand that good old coast way of life.

Cultural diversity isn't a problem. Look at how the Maoris and Whites get along, they've integrated so well with each other it's like there isn't even a difference between the two cultures anymore. Bringing in immigrants who aren't willing to integrate with the rest of society however, that's different.
