Polis responds to latest Colorado wolf depredation

In a press conference unrelated to wolf depredations, Gov. Jared Polis on Monday responded to the latest incident. FOX31's Rachel Saurer also hears from a Grand County commissioner that game wardens are stretched thin.

A Rancher is "pissed" because he lost 5 sheep to wolves. He should be that is not helping his business and is causing him extra work and it's possible he will lose some money or at least have to wait a while for his money. He deserves help and the state needs to do what they can to prevent this from happening, it won't go away but there are ways to mitigate the loses. A charity in the West called Vital Ground helps preserve land for grizzlies and works with Ranchers to reduce predation, hopefully something similar can happen for Colorado Ranchers and Wolves to help, not solve but help. With that said I'm "pissed" too! I'm sick and tired Ranchers who are a minority of the population thinking they get to decide whether or not an animal can exist in Colorado and the West in general because their business is hurt. You don't get everything you want in business and some things are considered the cost of doing business and Wolves need to be treated as such. Even if money is your matrix 38,893 is the estimated number of Ranchers and farmers in Colorado and the products sold is 7.5 billion, outdoor recreation in Colorado is estimated at 13.9 billion and 511,00 jobs so it's clear outdoor recreation brings in more money to the state and wolves will help bring in even more money. And don't try and tell me it's wrong that people on the Front Range want wolves because it hurts ranchers, this is my state too and I get a say in how this state moves forward with wildlife management and can't wait to go on a hike in RMNP and see a wolf, I hear they have entered the park. Sorry but he same attitude that had the wolves hunted to extinction in the west no longer prevails.

Your beloved cpw doesn't have a good track record with wildlife management, plenty of hidden blunders. Wrong fish stocked, poisoned the wrong lake, misidentified species, helped spread cwd, helped spread whirling disease just to name a couple.

One of those reintroduced wolves was known to go after livestock and it doesn't take a huge leap to get to which one of those wolves is currently doing the same here. Not only is this another obsfucation from you, but also a red herring because you brought in what's a bigger revenue generator for the state. The rancher's revenue comes from his cattle, not tourism

@@RockyMountainsUSA how has my life changed... well when I'm hiking around my hometown of Fraser, as in I'm actually from here and not some transplant, where wolves have now been spotted in the area, I'm debating whether or not to carry a gun, especially because I'm usually hiking with a dog, which wolves are prone to attacking. If you weren't such a city boi, these are things you would know Edit: that is just one way this affects my life
