"Rota" is a poem by Maria Konopnicka from 1908. It is not our anthem, but it is equally important for Poles. Rota is also an oath/promise

"Rota" was written when Poland didn't exist as a coutry on maps of Europe. It refers to Polish dreams of freedom and independence. And shows Polish spirit and determination...

They considered making this song the national anthem but it's not. They've chose - Mazurek Dombrowskiego - and it goes like: "Poland is not yet gone as long as we're alive, what foreign violence took, we'll take back with a saber." Thank you for making this video 👍

It's not the national anthem although as far as I know it had a chance to be. It was written in 1907 or 1904 as a protest against German dicriminatory policies (to put it kindly) towards the Poles.

The term “rota” refers to a formal formula or text of an oath or pledge. An oath as whole in Polish is "przysięga". The Rota song lyrics were written in the early 20th century by a poet Maria Konopnicka, as a reaction to anti-Polish German politics of the germanization in parts of Polish lands which were under Germany back then. In my opinnion the best version of the Rota on YT is this clip: "ROTA - DO KRWI OSTATNIEJ" on the channels called LE2M WW2 from 2016. This is from the old war-epic from 1970s about the The Polish 1st Tadeusz Kościuszko Infantry Division, organized in the Soviet Union from the former gulag prisoners under the soviet command. The soviets allowed some national Polish traditions and symbols there, so like using different style of uniforms, Polish emblems, songs and even chaplains, it was for the Soviets only a mere tool to gain more Polish support, but overall that's a complicated and a long story, how smart the Soviets were with allowing some concessions to achieve their ultimate goals, just like in this case. Overall that was their second attempt to create the Polish Army in the Soviet Union, but the first one didn't work as they planned and they didn't control it fully and the Polish Army was evacuated to the Briths controlled Middle East.

Dziękuję że zajołeś się naszą piękną patriotyczną pieśnią. Proponuję przyjżyj się dwu inym naszym Pieśniom patriotycznym "Czerwone maki" i "Białe Róże". I pewnej piosence "Modlę się o miłość" Mała Armia Janosika. Wszystkie 3 piękne i warte pokazania komentowania dla ludzi z poza Polski.

You already know that "Rota" is not the Polish anthem. Like every nation, we have many patriotic songs. "Rota" means "Oath" "An oath by God, by all that is most holy" That's why we sing it in very, very special situations. The anthem unites citizens. "Rota" unites the nation.
