We will go when the golden horn sounds... it is a symbol of the call to battle. The legend tells about knights sleeping in the Tatra Mountains. When they wake up, they will always liberate Poland... there is also the golden horn from Wyspianski's "Wesele"... but that's another story

This song is about that no force on Earth will enslave Polish peoples, no matter what. Polish pride will always be victorious. There might be no Poland on the map, but Poles will remain Poles and Poland will live in our hearts.

Jakie musiało być samozaparcie Polaków by po 123 latach odzyskać własny kraj - pomyślałeś o tym, że przez 3 pokolenia wszyscy byli Polakami kiedy Polski nawet na mapie nie było. HONOR i DUMA. Praktycznie każdy Polak odwagę ma we krwi ( to nie podlega dyskusji )

This song is based on our whole history and the most important goings-on I would say. For example when they sing about "Teutonic" that refers to XIII century about.

"Tak nam dopomòz Bòg" should be better translated as " So God help us to do this" or something like this. This is a very powerful song beaouse remembers to alla of us, Polish people, that no matter where you live, no matter what, we are a nation, a culture, a language, we are Poles and Poland will never disappear if we still live and have this feeling inside. It's like if Poland is a state of mind, not a place. Our country disappeared from the maps for 123 years but we didn't. We are a Nation, a culture, our traditions, our literature, our music, everything makes us live and survive even in the worst situations. I live in Italy since I was a child but I'm totally Polish. I speak my native language fluently, I can write (and It's not so simple), I've studied a lot of our literature and listen our music, I learn everyday something more about our history, because I know that I am Poland, a little % but I am part of my country and I am very proud of this. You can take a Polish person abroad but you can't take Poland from the heart of a Polish person.

It wrote Maria Konopnicka in reaction to the way kids were treated in the Września school by the German Authorities when they refused to learn religion in German and that was the last class they were until then allowed to learn in Polish. Konopnicka could write Rota, and Sienkiewicz could write "The Teutons" and Prus - "The Outpost" because they lived in the "congress kingdom" under the Russian rule and the relations betwen Russia and Germany much worsened then, (end of the XIX century)

It was one of candidates for the anthem when current one was chosen in 1927, but tension with Germany was high even without it, so "Mazurek Dąbrowskiego" was chosen instead

Rota ("The Oath") is an early 20th-century Polish poem,[1] as well as a celebratory anthem, once proposed to be the Polish national anthem. Rota's lyrics were written in 1908 by activist for Polish independence, poet Maria Konopnicka as a protest against German Empire's policies of forced Germanization of Poles.[2]

1:12 Fun fact: It could've been our anthem. It was one of 3 candidate songs, but due to strong anti german sentiments it was not chosen. Still it is one of the most popular patriotic songs over here Edit: Also, name translates roughly to Oath.

The Rota was considered as the Polish anthem, but in the end the anthem was Mazurek Dąbrowskiego. The words of the Rota result from our history. Unfortunately, Poland lies between Germany and Russia - countries that are guided by force and violence. This can be seen in the war with Ukraine. Poland was erased from the world map between 1772-1795 3 times. Our territory was torn apart by Russia, Germany and Austria. The history of Poland is a constant struggle for survival in the fight with neighbors. The Rota is an oath taken by the nation for the state and the Polish nation - we will fight the enemy until the grave. We have a bad location in Europe, we cannot change that.

GOD HONOR HOME LAND. It is most important for poles. Fight for independence throughout history. Poland never had any colony.

Rota is not the anthem, but at one point it was considered a candidate for the anthem, but ultimately "Masórek Dąbrowskiego" was chosen as the anthem

You are wrong, this song was not coz of war. Poland in XIX century was not independent. Was divided between Germany, Russia and Austria. In Germany part, at the end of XiX century ( Germany was led by Bismarck - cancelor/ prime minister ) was action to make Polish people forget that they are polish origin, It was, in between action of not aloud polish children speak and learn in polish langauge - it was 'germanize children' in song. This song comes from this time - end of XIX century. Every polish man usually is very touched hearing/singing this song. You right - this song is really powerfull. Regards, good job.

It could be national anthem This song was even candidate for anthem but it lost with Song of Polish Legions in Italy I would prefer The Oath to be the anthem I like this song because Konopnicka shows who is real enemy of Poles To better understand this song you must know history of Poland and Germany especially time when this song is written
