This is a Polish S-R Individual Ration Pack which is a single meal ration very much like the US MRE. Like the Meal Ready To Eat the Polish Military SR is portable and easy to prepare. It was a pleasure doing a taste test of this menu 6. The main was absolutely delicious. This is truly a world class single meal ration pack. I can't wait to try the Polish 24 Hour SRG in the future!
Thanks for watching!

Bigos is usually made with 50/50 sauerkraut and fresh cabbage. There are many variations that are more or less sweet, and there is also version without meat eaten on Christmas Eve. Some people add dried plums to sweeten it and mushrooms. You should definitely find a polish restaurant with good bigos or try making it yourself :). It can easily be put into jars and preserved for long-term storage.

That sounds very interesting. Wish I knew of a Polish restaurant in the area.

@@ReadinessRations You won't find two identical batches of bigos. Not only everyone makes it different (differences might be small or really big), but also people usually just add whatever they have at hand, so they don't even follow their own recipies. Basically you need fresh and fermented cabbage in whatever ratio you want - this is the base. In most cases you add meat to it. The most basic version has kiełbasa, but you can add chunks of pork or beef. I've seen some chicken leftovers added, so that's also an option. Some smoked meat or ribs are a really good addition. You can add some wine to it. Whether it will be white or red, sweet or dry, it's up to you. If you like it to be more sweet, you can add dried plums. They can also be smoked, but not everyone likes smoked plums (i like almost anything smoked, but not plums). You can also add raisins, but some people really hate them. Another sweetener that can be added is honey. Of course you need some spices for good bigos. That will be salt, pepper, bay leaf and allspice. That's of course basic stuff and you can add whatever else you like. Put all of that into big pot and cook on small fire. It can be reheated multiple times next days and you can add some more stuff while doing it. The more times you reheat it, the better it gets. Good bigos can last for a week, if you have enough of it. As you can see, it can be pretty basic, cheap food, made mostly with leftovers, or it can have few types of meat and other stuff and be really complex.

@@ReadinessRationsI suspect some of your hesitancy towards kielbasa is that you don’t have access to the good stuff. If you were to find a Polish deli in a bigger American city like New York or Chicago and tried kielbasa from there you would be a convert. Thanks for the review, smacznego.

SU-1 the infamous (panzerwafle) panzer waffles... To be honest i like those and i don't know why a lot o people bitch about them... From what I heard they changed the recipe like 20 years ago so those right now are not so thought like the originals from the 60's-70's (btw the ones in lithuanian rations are exactly the same made by Polish Company PIAST) Also this is Bigos - Hunter's stew:pork meat, sausage, onion, bouillon, fresh cabbage, sauerkraut, tomato paste, butter, dried plums, sometimes mushrooms not just simple sauerkraut koffi has caffeine equivalent of one cup of coffee Also You can buy most of this stuff in stores in poland (not the same packages but the content will be the same). The producer of this MRE (ARPOL) also is selling not only whole MRE's but also individual items on their website

So bigos also known as hunters stew made almost always with all proper polish products. It is mostly eaten after few days of making. Can stay in cans for months !! Konserwa(canned meat) is also very popular here in Poland. So many varieties here from pork shoulder one to wild boar. Anyways....polish food is usually very hearty due to very cold winters and to fill stomachs to have strenght to work even harder.

Bigos is a staple food of a polish household. It can serve as a main part of a meal itself, requiring addition of some hearty meats, or as a side dish with some acidity and tartness to balance a meal. I usually make it 50/50 between cabbage and sauerkraut Usually add pork shoulder and bacon (pork belly chunks) or my own homemade sausage; the smokier the better. In few cases I Americanized it a bit by using a nice, tender smoky brisket from a local BBQ pit restaurant. Make about 5 to 6 quarts total, then separate it into 12 - 14 portions and freeze them. Heat it up on the frying pan with some bacon - deliciousness all around.

Sweet review on truly exceptional MRE items. Indeed, the pork shoulder in the Kraut is traditional, and although the colors of the MRE meal certainly do not compliment the popular Bavarian dish, I assure you a German sausage topped with a bit of creamy brown gravy, and sided with freshly prepared Kraut would be so much more succulent than this MRE.... Add a few potato dumplings, beets and bier and you've got yourself a party!!! Thanks for sharing. #TGBATG

Kraut takes a little work, here's a recipe to try. Start with rinsing the kraut well and squeezing the water out. Heat bacon or sausage over low heat. Add sliced onion, grated potato, apple and or pear, then the kraut. Cook and add black pepper, carraway seeds, crushed juniper berries and brown sugar to taste. A little whole grain mustard, beer or gin adds some additional flavor, Thanks for the in depth explanations. When I saw the dark carmelized color of the kraut, I thought it would be good.

Hardtack has nothing to do with Russia. This is on the equipment of several army. History Hardtack reaches antiquity. Hardtack (or hard tack) is a simple type of biscuit or cracker made from flour, water, and sometimes salt. Hardtack is inexpensive and long-lasting. It is used for sustenance in the absence of perishable foods, commonly during long sea voyages, land migrations, and military campaigns. Along with salt pork, hardtack was a standard ration for many militaries and navies throughout the 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries. The introduction of the baking of processed cereals, including the creation of flour, provided a more reliable source of food. Egyptian sailors carried a flat brittle loaf of millet bread called dhourra cake, while the Romans had a biscuit called bucellatum. King Richard I of England left for the Third Crusade (1189-1192) with "biskit of muslin", which was a mixed grain compound of barley, bean flour, and rye.

Ok you are reviewing not so old MRE. I don't understand the need for you to talk at 100 miles and hour and I use the decimal system not the imperial. I understand english, but you are talking way to quick Are you limited with time with your videos that you have to talk so quickly or is it sped up or are you using something that you should not that speeds up your talking. You cannot blame ADHD or whatnot for how quick you talk. It is not natural. Clearly you are speeding up the speed of your speak.?

Those crackers are "panzerwaffles". Can be eaten or used as body armor or a weapon since they are hard as shit. And theyre like carbon fiber, the harder you bite the harder they get.

I missed your review earlier, on this meal last year. I was searching info, on some packages, sent to me from, Poland. He goes by channel, Delicious MRE reviews. Piotor, ( PETER ) If not already subscribed, check him out. He has offered to send me stuff before. I did not want him to spend the cost of shipping. He found cheap way? When I get camera issues, took care of, I will show. Your meal looks awesome. Some of components, identical to mine. Some vary slightly. According to the content list at least. He accidently sent me 2, of same ration, but, from different years. I think their components, will vary slightly as well. I have had Polish rations before, just not Bigos. I was researching info, and ran across this. I will watch more, will compare notes between all, make A guess, as to the components. One meal, translates well, between languages. Other, LOL, not so much. My luck. Glad you enjoyed. Need me yell. Peace, John. Oh, gun show was An absolute, total, complete miss today. Not 1 single ration. Got A , menu 22, U.S., Goulash MRE, 3 weeks ago at flea market, 3 weeks ago. Never tried the Goulash ration. I am looking forward to it, as well. Could not find, single meals, or, cases, for several months here. Single meals, were, $7.50, now, $10.00. Cases were, $65.00, now $100.00, when they find them. Basically, buy 10 meals, get two free, by my math. Never was good at Math, LOL. Most mains, I have tried, multiple times, and, will not invest in A case, I already know the menus and food. I look, for different, which is rare, as you well know. Just letting you know, $ 100.00 dollars for 12, going price last month. Compare prices, if known, or, available your way? Peace, John. Prayers Brother!!

I went to a gun show 2 weeks ago and they had a couple of 2017 cases for $80 each. I did pick up a case of low sodium meals for $30 though. Those were all the rations at the show though. I can't spend $80 on a single case when I used to get 2 for that much. I've been a fan of Delicious video for quite a while. That beef goulash was a awesome find, I haven't had that one yet either. Take it easy brother. Hope you and yours are doing well.
