Hi! Agreed, Verzuz was an organic experience, especially when E. Badu and Jill Scott were featured.

Not so humble brag: I'm from the Caribbean and I knew Steve's Happy Birthday song honoured MLK... And yes, you can ship my cookie to Barbados, West Indies 😊🇧🇧😅

I am a month late to catching this episode/ series, but I NEED to drop a comment anyway. This episode was AMAZING for numerous reasons. Simply put, it was thought-provoking, and I look forward to binging the rest of the episodes.

I hate making this reference but when I think about capitalism and really how I wish that it could be dismantled I also think of Kayne West going to Sway's radio show way back in the day and telling him "You ain't got all the answers Sway!" I wish that we could get rid of capitalism but our society is too invested in it and we don't have an alternative to it other than communism which is definitely a no-no for me and I'm sure for most of the rest of the people here in the U.S.

Question for Jared but unrelated to the topic. Can you expound on the differences between work and labor?
@jclem261124 ай бұрын
there’s a lot of debate about this, but i tend to think of work as the activities that humans engage in to either change or produce something. i use labor (in the noun form), specifically, to refer to a situation in which individuals must sell their ability to work to someone else (in order to survive), in exchange for a wage-a distinctly capitalist phenomenon. labor requires work, but work doesn’t necessarily have to be labor. for example, if you cook dinner for your friends, this is work, but not necessarily labor. now if you are hired by a restaurant to cook for patrons, that is both work *and* labor. as a socialist, i think it’s an important distinction to make because capitalism treats the two as one in the same, but they’re not. human beings often dont mind and even enjoy working, especially if it’s their choice to do so. they do NOT like to labor, mainly because of the coercive aspect.
