Minimum wage in my RED* state is the same now as it was when I joined the workforce in 2000. 24 years and it was $7.10 then and they only upped it fifteen cents to match the federal minimum of $7.25 despite the fact that $7 went WAY further twenty years ago. I believe you, it's amazing what you hear in service of these people. I used to work in fine dining back when all the pharma reps and doctors decided to start pushing pain pills, antidepressants and sleep meds like ambien. It was astounding. None of those doctors or reps ever discussed the efficacy, risks, studies, side effects, addiction risks... nothing that might relate to patient care or disease treatment. (I was prepping for pre-med at the time and got so sick from the experience that I quit.) But yeah, it was literally around a dinner table and they were discussing how to take advantage of their position in order to leverage perks that I thought were stupid. It was obviously all about appearances, being in the in-group, being treated like you're somebody. All of these rental cars, resort trips, vacation home access, golf course memberships... stuff like that (all under the guise of conference work). It all looked pretty worthless to me but these fools were positively salivating over the slide shows while laughing and literally patting each other on the back. The dinner bills alone were staggeringly expensive and the ease with which these reps spent that money every week really put me on edge; if they can afford all of this just to get them on the hook, what kind of profits are they making off of sick people?! Week after week, different group of doctors after another... it was truly sickening, I would rather wait tables. Now I have really severe chronic pain all over my body and almost daily migraines from a neurological disorder, a gi disorder and an autoimmune condition as well as spine damage from repeated violent trauma and no drug history, and a single parent with immense responsibilities and no means of support... I can't get any pain management whatsoever now because those people did what they did. Make it make sense.

The thing is, it isn't just MAGA. For example, during the Obama administration, the GOP tried to make some changes to overtime. Instead of time and a half, you would have gotten paid time off equal to the overtime hours worked. Doesnt sound bad, right? Except, as per the legislation, the p.t.o. had to be used within 30 days of earning it and at the discretion of the employer. So, if your employer did not approve the use of the p.t.o. within the 30 days, it would expire. MAGA is just the regular GOP with the mask off. All subtlety is out the window.

Ever heard of Ken Cuccinelli? Well, he ran for Governor in VA but lost (thank God - in about 2015). Ken wrote the Project 2025 chapter on immigration - read it! He also served in Trump's 2016 cabinet. But here's the fun part- for 6 months before the gubernatorial election, Ken had an online argument with a well known science/ anthropology professor from UVA about how dinosaurs never existed & need to be excluded now from college courses because they disagree with the Bible & many views of conservative Christian thought!!
