I was blessed to attend a fundraiser in Los Angeles shortly after Mr. Mandela was released from Robbins Island. It was the first year Black South Africans were able to vote. In his speech, Mr. Mandela stated he didn't understand why, after Black Americans had fought so hard for the privilege to vote, many of us had not (and do not) vote. It saddens me that, just like Black Americans, these young people find voting so useless. In America, white people are attempting to turn the clock back by using gerrymandering, closing polling stations, etc., to keep us from voting. We have fought too hard to allow them to do this thing. I vote because I remember my parents marching and having white folks hurl racial slurs, throwing rotten food, etc., at them. I vote because our ancestors were worked to death, beaten, lynched, shot, had dogs turned on them, and I will not dishonor their sacrifice. Don't give up young people. Nothing will change unless you determine to change it! Don't give up...

@@bemibanasko4630 Maybe if they had leaders who weren't corrupt and could effectively grow South Africa without those groups you've mentioned, then they could consider kicking them out. But with the current leaders, South Africa would crumble within hours after kicking out those people. Even hours is still overstated, the stock exchange would fall in minute and the rand will become practically useless. And our loving leaders would also steal what they can get from their own people and leave this country. So I disagree, they should find better solutions to clean up their own country. Sometimes Whites, Asians aren't the real enemies and as black people, people with the same skin colour as ours are more dangerous to us because we allow them to ruin us. This is 2019, we've been preaching they must leave since 1994 and they're still here because their presence benefits South Africa. Bad leadership is South Africa's biggest problem... Congratulations to DW. You have really advanced your Africa section by hiring the Edith Kimani. One correction though: you label certain parties as "far-left" or "center-left" and so on. These labels don't make too much sense, since some of the parties that you would consider "left" do actually manifest traditionalist, sometimes patriarchical and conservative social visions and values. You can not really transpose Central European or Scandinavian political categories on the South African political landscape. Same with the concept of minority vs majority interest: in South Africa you have organisations that claim to represent the intere sts of minorities, but that in fact want to undermine democracy to the detriment of the majority of mostly impoverished South Africans. From a western perspective you would think: an organisation helping and supporting minorities - that must be a good thing. But in the South African context, minority dominance meant the disenfranchiement, exploitation and oppression of the majority by a socio-economically and technologically advantaged minority!

Black South Africans need innovation and creativity, the government only have to provide the economic environment that simulate economic grows in the small to medium businesses. Corruption is a global phenomenon and impedes progress but the key problem across the continent is lack of innovation. That is why the 5 million white South Africans are more productive than the whole of black Africa, SA has so much opportunity it beggars how all these people are poor and docile waiting for government to build house for them, for free. The issue is not land but rather , having land as a black person doesn’t bring money or improve the economy , now if we speak of a country doing well is when people have jobs that obviously comes people opening business , and the state must not be involved in things like minimum wage coz they end up going to China 🇨🇳 for labor and production of product . Land is something I strongly one must earn , for example many people in rural areas have big land but now everyone run to the cities and want to get free land .... this country keeps on asking for things we can’t afford on the expense of other people money. So you don’t need a land to make money , but we first need that financial literacy within the black communities and family orientation where we have both parents raising kids than wanting government to pay for people irresponsibility... I can go on , but the economic state of the black community is bad , we get monies from bank and we spend on booze 🥃 and girls , every year on bonus money we don’t use the funds to open business but rather party throughout December and Jan we go to work angry and say white people owe us ... people must be responsible

@@KaraboMasemola6408 *So you don’t need a land to make money* Ask yourself why you have to be a citizen to own land in most countries. Ask yourself why most land belongs to the queen in the UK. Why do most countries only allow land to be leased, rather than being owned outrightly. Land ownership by itself will make you money. Land is a source of wealth, it impacts on house prices, and it is a source of food. When you own land, that is an asset that keeps on giving. When you own land, you can easily provide for your family, no matter how difficult the economic situation may be. In urban centers, you can lease out land to earn income, without doing any work. Conversely, when you don't own land, you have to lease it, and keep paying for it forever. This keeps you poorer. What These Young People Need To Understand Is.. To NOT VOTE? Is Voting FOR The People And Parties THAT DO NOT REPRESENT THEM.. In Democracy? Parties JUST LOVE For People To NOT VOTE.. Because It Assures A Sure Win During The Election Cycle That Their Party Will Win... Which Is Why EVERY VOTE COUNTS.. And, Which Is Why Every NON VOTERS NON VOTE COUNTS FOR THE WINNING PARTY That Is Running For Office... Example: If There Are 10 Voters. The People Running For Office Want To Get As Many Of Those 10 Voters Votes As Possible.. However.. Out Of Those 10 Voters? Only 4 Voters Actually Vote.. And, The Other 6 Voters DO NOT VOTE.. The People Running For Office Will Cater To The 4 Voters. Because Those Are The Voters That Will Put Them In Office.. Leaving The 6 Remaining NON VOTERS OUT OF THE PICTURE.. But What The 6 Non Voters DO NOT REALIZE IS? By Not Voting.. They Just Put Their Futures In The Hands Of The 4 People WHO DID VOTE... But? The Politicians Aren't Going To Cater To THE NON VOTERS.. Why You Ask? Because They DO NOT HAVE TO.. That's Why.. The Politicians Only Have To Cater To The 4 People THAT DID VOTE.. Because The Politicians KNOW, The Non Voters Aren't Going To Vote To Put Them In Office.. In Fact The Politicians KNOW.. The Non Voters Aren't Going To Do Anything TO VOTE THEM OUT OF OFFICE EITHER.. So The NON VOTER'S NEEDS? Go Unmet... Which Is Why THOSE WHO DO NOT VOTE? Are Helping To Put People Into Office That ((WILL NOT FORE FILL NEEDS)).. Because? The Politicians Once In Office Don't Have To.. They Only Have To For Fill The Needs Of Those Who Actually Vote... Because The People Who ACTUALLY VOTE? Are The Only People Who Will Keep Them In Office...

I recently read an article where they mentioned Portugal's unemployment rate reached 17% but it was extremely unacceptable and too high by "European standards". Not saying SA is Europe or will be comparable to Europe in the near future. But one can notice the problem here. If we sponsor him, he will never have a reason to sell us out. As long as we depend on "sponsors" nothing will ever change. Our agenda: Nationalization by a party that's for the majority, equality is the goal, not oppression.

Indeed SA is in some political frustration especially with the youth, 29% unemployment rate, the majority still still living in poverty like it doesn't make sense. What is the use of voting if the ruling party is the most corrupt thing in this nation, billions of rands being devoured by elites "our black leaders, lol" & 99% of the members are old like 60 years+, like what is an old man doing in parliament? & let me remind your'll the president is responsible for the killings of our fathers in Marikana. What is the use of voting when the 2 most biggest opposition parties are just spreading propaganda? One, claims is for the majority & youth while it resorts to mostly violence in parliament, while its leader comes from the the ruling party lol whilst the other party is just a plain right minority party which was created by a person who was active in the suppression of the majority & its leader is being used to lure in the majority, what a sell-out so in conclusion there is no use. Edit: Came back after 3 years to watch this video & I have to say my initial comment was made out of anger and lack of knowledge. I have grown and sought after some knowledge about SA politics. I have to say I am foremost with Precious on this video, I love her thinking and her points that she put forth in this discussion. I also hope that the people who were in this discussion also sought after some knowledge and new perspective's. What I want to say is that the only thing that can change SA is if we go out in numbers and vote. I know a lot will iterate this question of "Who do we vote for?" and I say that solely lies with you. Go and do research about registered parties and look for the one that line up with your values and beliefs, look at their track record. Don't be swayed to vote with the masses because that's how the ANC came into being, because everyone wanted to vote for the same party. The onus is with you, the youth. Precious said, when she last voted she went with a strategy of voting against the ruling party in her province and nationally also because there was no party that has yet to convince her, to which I say I also agree with her. It is also these party's that cause their own downfall, they just can't campaign. Well, I just wish that people register to vote and come out in numbers if they want to see change, otherwise they will continue to face these hardships and blame government, to which I say true but also blame yourself for not voting it out!

That's one of my biggest problem with South Africa, look at the parliament especially. One can clearly see the extreme lack of youth in the place. Not that it's a huge problem having large numbers of older people...But we could easily overlook it if they didn't specialize in extreme corruption. Another biggest issue is politicians only knowing you when it's election time, I personally come from the Free State province and I'm a university student. Where I come from, we haven't had water for more than 2 years. Recently on June, every municipality in Free State was accused of corruption. EVERY SINGLE ONE....The ruling party is only ruling the developed South Africa.. The undeveloped parts of SA don't exist to them, they only exist when they want votes... The ruling party has also creatd this persona for people. That if you don't vote ANC, Apartheid will come back.

People who still think politicians are there for the good of the ordinary people are either naive or extremely stupid. I hope the first. Being in politics is first to take care of yourself and maybe then you're doing a little bit for the people so next time they vote again for you to keep your seat warm and eventually also for your children.
