In Tanzania, 800,000 youths are entering the labor market every year, but the country's poor education system is letting them down. As an American I find that there are a number of universities whom would benefit in two way partnerships with African Universities if you can establish what educational needs are to be met.

Also in the u.s. some university partner with local businesses and inquire what is required for the students to become a good fit with their organization. This method usually tweaks the educational system for student work readiness for the surrounding public and private sector.

It is unfortunate that in all this discussion nobody talked about the main reason for unemployment. This idea of constantly repeating what you have been told the government. I see a lot of people lay blame on themselves and other young people. However nobody has called out the government on its lack of investing in industrialization and manufacturing. That is the problem with Africa as long as we are not manufacturing and getting into industrialization the problem with of unemployment will remain with us. All they focused on are generalizations and not real issues. Until we Africans stop focusing on generalizations of ooh young people are lazy, mindset nonsense, volunteering nonsense,entrepreneurship others that were mentioned. Cause all these are just distractions and not the main issue. By the way when developed countries were going through their industrial revolution majority of them were not educated, since education was a preserve of the super rich. Yet they were able to create wealth why is that? Because they invested in manufacturing. You can't be a consumer and expect to create wealth. For wealth creation to take place you have got to be a producer.

I completely agree with you. I am from Bangladesh and the unemployment among graduates is higher than unemployment among non-graduates. However, what is your opinion on investing in technical & vocational education? Do you think it might help manufacturing growth by supplying skilled labour at a cheaper rate?

@@shashishshamikamal5812 In my country that is what the government keeps suggesting. However I completely disagree with that approach. This is because the problem isn't education but rather lack of planning and investment in manufacturing & industrialization. If developing countries already had running manufacturing factories and the issue was shortage of labor then vocational and technical training would be the answer. What we are experiencing is that very highly educated people are l acking jobs not there is a problem with the education they are getting but rather because in many developing countries we have very small stagnant economies supporting a bulging population thus resulting in youth unemployment. So technical and vocational training isn't a sound solution to the problem of unemployment.

There needs to be far more apprenticeships from entrepreneurs that students can learn the reality through working in it versus the bubble of the classroom.

The gentleman who said that when he travelled abroad he was told that tertiary education is about teaching self more than being dependent on lecturers hit it... Solve problems... Learn administrative skills... Understand marketing, branding and perception and the youth can transform Africa. You are the change you want to see.

The state should follow the needs of the market but most important is to have a vision for the future of the nation, how they want our nations look like in 10, 15 or 20 years ??! Look at China for instance, if there are at this level today it’s because the government had a plan for a long term futur and worked on that, they sended students around the world to study some specifics topics and when they came back the economy was quite open for foreigners investors looking for this kind of qualification! Now days African governments do not actually care about the youth futur, theyvhave no visionbflr tge futur so far! It’s so sad.

The school 🏫 system is a lie the real school 🏫 and truth school 🏫 is in the street even in the westerners schools 🏫 just that they've all at large e.g they've theory &practice at the same time ⏲ . I have learn in the Gambia 🇬🇲 and came to Europe 🇪🇺 and I observed that there is a big difference between the two 😳. There we don't have many areas to do it in practical only theoretical knowledge of imagination but in Europe I've did both at the same time which at the end I have earned both sides experience. My people are so intelligent living in the USA all of my life part of the transatlantic slave trade I am 58 years old I live in Lubbock Texas I moved here from Minneapolis Minnesota in 2008. I wonder that group of people if they put down ideas on paper or discussions with other parts of the college people like that work in agriculture in different parts could they come up with together that could be a good plan that a person, that cares it has a finances can invest to make their lives better so they can eat and so they can have some type of dream come true. Their plans and other plans of Agriculture and medical and so on brought together I would love to hear that could be possible and how could a person I like myself if I wanted to invest in all of them how could that work out to benefit them.
