I delve deeper into GK Chesterton's late work, The Outline of Sanity, as criticizes more deeply the prevailing capitalist free market imaginary and, more importantly, lays out what distributism would be like and the steps he proposes to get there. One of the strongest recommendation he gives is to break up monopolies and protect experimental uses of property from innovation-destroying competition.

"The free market is more of an ideal than a reality, and perhaps it always has been." Go off, Queen.

Adam Smith said an entirely free market is an impossible utopia and politicians, judiciary and the public should maintain ever vigilant attention to business merchants who seek to steer laws in their favour... The amount of time I have encountered Adam Smith used to defend the unregulated free market, only to discover he was more Naomi Klein than Friedman. I was quite shocked to read this, as I work my way through Unknowers, How Elite Ignorance Rules the World by Linsey McGoey. Understanding the richness and alternatives to what we have now - Thank you so much for your work.

Underrated breakdown of the Distributist position. G.K. was the Third Position for the American context. I'll be shilling this video

Wow! I've been interested in Chesterton for awhile now, and trying to figure out what I really think on economic policy... always been disgruntled with free market capitalism, but state socialism turns me off and the materialist basis of Communism is a non-starter for me. Distributism makes a lot of sense and the way it is presented with Chesterton's ideas makes me think it would be much more of an environmentally and nature/human centered system. Lots of food for thought, thank you!

I think another thing we should try to do, building off of Chesterton's ideas, is that we have voluntary chambers of commerce specifically made for the smaller businesses, so they can work together to provide the population products that would only be possible if there was a gigantic singular corporation producing them. Now the leadership would obviously not be in the hands of one but held democratically and not just based on the power of said leader. I don't know I think its an interesting idea.

Exactly: Distributism should not be conflated with Communism. Plato regarded democracy as little more than mob rule by another name-perhaps without the violence, at least at first. The distributism model of G.K. Chesterton that awakens reciprocal financial benefits along ALL PEOPLE is the only authentic democracy:, American Indian, Asian, Australian, European, Indian, Melanesian, Micronesian & Polynesian. Unlike socialism, which advocates state ownership of property and the means of production, distributism seeks to devolve or widely distribute that control to individuals (FAMILIES) within society, rejecting what it saw as the twin evils of plutocracy and bureaucracy. Capitalism advocates 'corporate ownership' of property and the means of production - destroys families. Socialism advocates 'state ownership' of property and the means of production - destroys families. Distributism advocates 'family ownership' of property and the means of production - UNITES FAMILIES Plato regarded democracy as little more than mob rule by another name-perhaps without the violence, at least at first. Socialism advocates 'state ownership' of property and the means of production - destroys families. Distributism advocates 'family ownership' of property and the means of production - UNITES FAMILIES James 1:27 says, "Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you." G. K. Chesterton considered one's home and family the centrepiece of society. He recognized the family unit and home as centrepieces of living and believed that every man should have their property and home to enable him to raise and support his family. Distributists recognize that strengthening and protecting the family requires that society be nurturing. Proverbs 19:17-20 says, “If you help the poor, you are lending to the LORD- and he will repay you! Discipline your children while there is hope. Otherwise you will ruin their lives.” Jesus never forced you to believe in Him BEFORE he fed you. When Jesus fed you freely, He freely offered you the Grace to freely believe in Him. No Marxist bloody revolution was required. But an honest reciprocation of His open kindness leads to a genuine faith of the Holy Spirit sharing food with everyone. In that regard, the Virgin Birth is the sign of His divinity. He came to the earth from outside, pure and clean, and was in no way a product of this world. His mother, Mary, had not known a man, but the Holy Spirit had overshadowed her and the power of the Most High had come upon her; therefore, the Holy One born to her would be God Himself. To the Africans, the Virgin Mary appears African. To the American Indians, the Virgin Mary appears American Indian. To the Asians, the Virgin Mary appears Asian. To the Australians, the Virgin Mary Appears Australian. To the Europeans, the Virgin Mary Appears European. To the Indians, the Virgin Mary appears Indian. To the Melanesians, the Virgin Mary appears Melanesian. To the Micronesians, the Virgin Mary appears Micronesian. To the Polynesians, the Virgin Mary appears Polynesian. From now on all generations will call me blessed, for the Mighty One has done great things for me- holy is His name. His mercy extends to those who fear Him, from generation to generation. - Luke 1:48-50

Stalinism was State Capitalism. Just as Americans had in the war years. Central planing and money distinctions (as theory) rather than class (patrician vs plebian or race). Only with nomenklatura as a "class" contradicting this and strong UBI (including housing).
