Does not get you into heaven Jesus Christ through his work on the cross does believe he died us and ALL our sins because we will never be perfect till made new God had to make it easy for us to have everlasting life because we can’t earn it all we have to do is believe in Christ and his righteousness is given to us after we die we are only clean through the blood of Christ. John 3:16 couldn’t make it any clearer read through 1 corinthians especially 3:15 and may god open your eyes our works are futile

Really sad to see this cowardice in Piper. Its totally unscriptural. If you listen to what Piper says here the prophet that confronted King David in his sins was out of order, he should have stayed out of politics. And David's general was innocent when he conspire to kill the husband of Basheeba because he was just submitting to his governmental authority, following orders.

Thank you for reminding the believers of this truth. How did the church come to look to government for benefits A day may come when certain churches may lose tax exempt status if they don’t get on board with the government’s agenda. This can happen no matter what party is in office. The churches I attended since coming to faith in 81 did not become political activists. I look at some of the anabapist groups and see that they have steered clear of politics altogether. They are few in number.

What people don’t realize is that when pastors mix politics with Christianity, it creates stumbling blocks for some Christians or even potential converts to the faith who are turned off by some of the rhetoric, or end up acting in ways that aren’t Christlike. Hate speech being one example Jesus warns us in Matthew 18:6 (ESV) “but whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a great millstone fastened around his neck and to be drowned in the depth of the sea.” Calling people snowflakes or RINOS for simply disagreeing about a certain former president is the opposite of what Christ would want. Our citizenship is in heaven, not on earth. We’re not MAGA or traditional conservatives first, we’re Christians. You’re not even an American first. I’m not Albanian first. We’re a Christians who happen to be Americans, Albanians, whatever you’re from. You weren’t that before you were born and you wont be that after you die. Nationality is just a label. Christ is forever The church is a global church, no one nation has a right to claim it. I’m a former Muslim of Albanian heritage and when I hear pastors insulting Muslims it hurts me because I still have parents who are Muslim and I pray for them constantly. We should be sharing the gospel with peoples of other religions, not exclude them. The Apostles preached the good news, they didn’t call the Hellenists names and insult their gods. They showed them that their gods are false with love. If you just insult people they won’t even want to hear the word Please if you remember anything from this post, it’s that your words could potentially cause a Christian to stumble so mind them carefully and live as Christ would want you to

What you said has big BIG political implications tho, even if not partisan (or especially since not partisan). Do you think a preacher should say what you said from the pulpit? I think it would be good. What you said IS a powerful political statement inasmuch as it makes a big "political" claim, one concerning KING JESUS. Well stated, good sir. It is the sort of boldness contained in your comment that's missing from milquetoast 501c3 messages.

And yeah, we're DEFINITELY not "Maga." Blech. I'm not anyway. Radical allegiance to King Jesus. Most preachers won't preach this or "speak this to the teeth" of the parishioners for fear of losing the tithe. Let's be real.

There are too many anti-Christian philosophies in mainstream culture for us to ignore politics completely. We at least need to engage with those ideas the way Voddie Boucham does, and regularly teach on the sanctity of life. That’s the least effort intensive way to love our pre-born neighbor.

I agree. We should use what we know to be true to influence culture and politics when we can. Whether people are going to be Christian or not, we should use what tools we have to keep the moral commandments intact for all people. This means keeping murder legal and outline theft, sexual promiscuity or perversion, abortion in any form, and many other manner of oral turpitude. Every law is based in a moral claim from speeding to licensing your dog or from theft to the right to defend yourself. We need to be salt and light in a dark world.

Too many anti-Christian philosophies?? Well of course there is. Jesus told us the world would hate us. Why are Christians still surprised by this? That’s why we aren’t supposed to be in the mainstream culture and those who are should see a difference in us and ask us why. That’s how you win souls for Christ. Not by preaching to the choir.

Very often when Jesus spoke to the church and state he often had a third perspective response. Should we pay taxes to Caesar or obey God? Jesus says: both Should we stone this woman according to the law or not? Jesus said, "yeah, whoever has no sin cast the first stone" I think the problem I have with christian political ideology is that we very easily get into any either or mindset. Examples of this include Roe v Wade, many Christians said that the only way abortion would end would be to over turn Roe, without looking at the statistics that showed that as local regulations came into place the number of abortions fell steadily from 80s until the present time. Before Roe was innacted there was a pretty big black market abortion industry. I'm afraid that now that Roe is gone that black market will spring up again, and the actual number of abortions in America will spring back up again. Point being the either or mindset, either Roe or no Roe, doesn't work. I don't know what a Christian response is, but I know it will involve loving and respecting women, it's easy to love the unborn, it's hard to love the women who God calls us to interact with on a daily basis. Real change comes from the heart, heart change comes from God and through prayer, not through a law or amendment. Another wrong "either/or" dilemma in America is "if I don't vote for the popular good candidate, then the evil wins" I don't think any vote (almost) is a moral decision, because humans aren't naturally moral. A third option is to become a law maker and write laws that make citizens feel loved and respected and treated as Christ would want them treated, regardless of whether that law or measure gets voted on or not.

This is some good stuff. I just think people need to be less focus on the extremes of politics (i.e. whatever mess the far-right or far-left is pushing) or extremes of some so-called Christians that are within politics, and instead focus more on what actual practicing Christians are doing and how they are living for the kingdom of Christ.

*July the 4th* ...and "Politics, Patriotism, and the Pulpit"... Very poignant Title kind Sir...and while that popular phrase has always been around at long time...it is an "evil" phrase today. So sad, but OH so True. And there has... ...never been as bad, as now. Where I believe: this is caused by the coming of the "END" of this world. Matthew 24:21 For then shall be Great Tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be again. 1. For 246 ago, in "Politics"; and mostly righteous men; created (in 1776 AD) THE Greatest nation in History. And their Heavenly Righteousness, made this nation; THE most Blessed (from Jesus who IS God) in History. That became the Richest and most powerful Nation in History. 2 But that is NO more! Because "Patriotism" is dwindling (dead) by the minutes. Oh so sad, but OH so True...May Jesus have mercy. 3. Thus, MOST "Pulpits" have gone "Apostate" (more or less); across the entire world. Where they have forgotten Jesus' stern "WARNINGS"! In the 1st 3 chapters of Revelations. Where Jesus told them, in "NO uncertain terms": that IF those "7 churches" in Asia Minor ("Turkey" now); allowed "False Prophets" and satan's "Jezebels" in their churches...He would destroy that church; and it's congregation too. Oh He did! Read it... Like "Joyce Meyer and Paula White", etc (Not to mention "h....o...m...o's"); and all kinds of "PROUD" Abominable Sinners; in their churches. And Moses espoused in... Leviticus 20:13 If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them. And Paul preached this in... Romans 1:26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: Romans 1:27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. Now hear this: NOT one of those churches exists today. Of course: they became Apostate against; what Jesus warned. And today, I believe that every church in this world; is in a "stage" of Apostasy, more or less. And very near; ALL churches will be totally ensconced: in satan-led, Godless liberal "evil Pulpits". Meaning every church will have become 100% Apostate. Which Jesus will destroy (and their congregations too) in the first month of the "Great Tribulation". Believe it or not! So bye, bye "July the 4th's"; and also "Politics, Patriotism, and the Pulpits". AND if you are a Born Again Christian: please do this Brethren... ...In any case, Please Pray OFTEN and Praise Jesus OFTEN; for He is the ONLY true "God Almighty"; there will ever have been. And may Jesus bless you and yours always. AMEN!

I'm currently struggling in my congregation because of the mixture of politics and religion. Its necessary to evaluate our stances on earthly issues vs spirituality and thinking of the kingdom to come.

Lucky salvation is a gift you don’t even have to repent john 3:15-18 do you believe he died for your sins past present and future great now you have eternal life now read 1 corinthian 3:10-15 your repentance and charity etc are all things that Christ will reward you for but you can never lose your salvation. John pieper is a retrobate straight from hell and he’s a modern day pharisee he’s gonna split hell right on open.

KZbin "pastors" are contributing to this unholy mixture of politics and the Bible, becoming entangled in the affairs of this world. Nero was in power when Paul said the "Powers that be are ordained of GOD. " Pastors should focus on preaching Christ, and Him crucified. The things of this world are passing away, and are totally under the Almighty's control.

As a Chinese Christian I agree however in order to combat the infinitely stronger American patriotism/empire, patriotism to other countries that are non Western and of the Global South is required by those who identify with countries of those regions. It’s about equity for me.

When the Messiah came, the jews thought He was coming to lead them to a revolution against the Romans to be free. He indeed came to free them...but from SIN. Jesus is more concerned with your eternal salvation and not whether you are republican or democrat. You cannot serve 2 masters.

I do believe politics should be left out of the church! This world is deteriorating day by day, and will never get any better. We know that Jesus is the only way this nation/ world can be revived. Truth being told, many people just don’t want to hear about Jesus, and if one talks about him, you are already classified as a conservative/republican by people on the left because we believe abortion is wrong and things like that.

Almost everything in politics is about morality. The rest is conviction that the Bible still speaks to. Politics is the outworking of our morality.

The meaning of life is to provide opportunity after opportunity to express unconditional love within the context of relationship within situations. This voice - the voice of the soul - is quiet. The loud voice is the dominant voice - and it is the voice of insanity. Choose the quiet voice of sanity and teach others to do the same. Do not be deceived. There is deception at levels that has never been seen before - due to the amplification of media - including social media. It has become easier to tell what unconditional love is and what is not - so do not fall for all the lies that are circulating. God is not involved in politics. Egos are - and certain Egos would love for you to believe that they have been personally appointed by God to fight all the evildoers. God is not involved in battles - as all are part of God. It is said in the Bible that "you shall know them by their fruits." Apply this principle whenever you are in doubt - and you will see clearly. Do not get too attached to appearances either - because as you know - they can be quite deceiving. There are many wolves in sheep's clothing on the earth at this time. If they are involved in conflict in any way - shape or form - you can be certain that they are not on the path of love - at least not at this time. There has been great confusion about the concept of characters and the plays they play in. The rule of thumb is that the Director allows characters to write their own scripts and this they do - to advance their own policies and ambitions. But it has little or nothing to do with love. Love is all there is.

If Jesus is King, than the state is NOT king. If I worship God, so I don't worship the government. I'm other words: Christian life leads automatically to a conservative political position (im the sense of small government).

Wow. First off that passage opens with "The Lord sent Nathan", a direct order from a power beyond political interest or personal prejudice, to confront David about his conspiracy to kill a man under the pretense of taking his wife and covering his iniquity before men. NOTHING political there. Moving on, as far as the general who was to lead Euriaj into battle to be killed, that's a mortal man following the orders of a hypocrite who invoked the name of God to have his own will done. Sounds more like the Republican party than anything else to me. Between the extremists; extreme liberal or extreme conservative, I have to give the benefit of the doubt to the liberal. They're typically grossly unfamiliar with the Bible, so that explains their godless mind process and attitudes. But when I see the so called "Christian conservative" and "moral majority" spewing hatred and insults out of the side of their necks, under the guise of rebuke and correctionbin God's name, I tremble. It's easy to see where people that we dislike naturally, in the flesh, are compromised. But a long hard look in that mirror will leave you undone. There's no cure for this sick world in the ballot box, or the protest corner, or online commentary. It goes out into the streets where most people doing all the loud talking won't go, because your love for God and men will be proven (or disproven) there.

Cowards and idol worship prevalent? Yes. Spewing hate? Far and few. But you can still be a Christian and a Republican Conservative. You cant be a Christian and a DEMONcrat. if you think you can vote for abortions and sodomy and think your a man of God your deluded, your a hypocrite and God will spew you out of His mouth my friend. The Gospel: Plain and Simple “But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.” - 2 Corithians 11:3 Ask someone today if they are saved and you will most likely hear responses like these: “I have accepted Jesus into my heart.” Or “I have made him Lord of my life.” “I’ve been baptized.” “I said a prayer.” Sounds all good and churchy don’t it; but it is difficult to de-termine whether or not a person actually knows the gospel that saves them. These use￾less phrases don’t describe a thing about what the gospel is and has left a devastating effect of people not knowing what it is that they are saved from nor how they are saved; which leaves a more serious effect of people ques￾tioning their salvation. Let’s not muddy the simplicity of salva￾tion that is in Christ with vague church sounding phrases that do not communicate anything. But rather present God’s word with clarity and assuredness. So here is the gospel: plain and simple. Sin was passed upon all men by one man Adam, and death is a consequence of this sin (Rom 5:12). Mankind has an eternal destiny of condemnation and wrath - Hell - because of this sin (Rom 6:23). No matter what good works one might do we are still found sinners in the sight of our Creator God. And all un￾righteousness and those who follow get in￾dignation and wrath. We cannot be found righteous for by God’s law we are found sin￾ners (Rom 3:19-20). If we have broken even one law we are found guilty. It is for this reason of not being able to create our own righteousness and being born in a sinful flesh that we need a savior (Titus 3:5). Christ is that Savior, God manifested in the flesh, sinless, died in our place on a cross 2000 years ago. Taking upon him the wrath and judgement that was intended for us sin￾ners. And it is through his bloodshed, burial, and resurrection on our behalf that we are able to have peace with God and forgiveness of our sins (1 Cor 15:1-4, Col 3:14). This good news is unto all but only those that believe in it are made righteous in Christ (Romans 3:22). It is then after we have heard this good news of Christ’s righteousness available to us freely, that we are sealed with the Holy Spirit and we are now part of Christ’s body the church (Eph 1:13) There is nothing that we need to do, no good works that are required, and no bad works that can separate us from our new po￾sition in Christ (Romans 8:35-39). Faith and belief in this information from God’s word is the gospel. The gospel is not accepting Jesus into your heart. The gospel is not making him lord of your life, it is not saying a prayer and it is not being baptized with water. So next time someone asks you if you are saved.
