Unfortunately, most likely not. Modern politics doesn't reward honesty and integrity. The people pulling the strings will do everything in their power to stop politicians like Mhairi get into positions they can actually affect change as the change wont benefit them. Just finished watching the Cheese Lady's last PMQ, and I can't think of a stronger contrast than listening to Mhairi. I mean, down even to the antithetical accents, here's a very, very sharp and sane person who is throwing clear, cold water on the glitching automaton and the entire Tory project. And she's quite right to take Labour to task for acting like Tory-Lite in the misguided belief that if they kiss the ring of wretched Thatcher, they'll somehow be more "electable." The only hope is a Progressive Alliance led by the SNP, the Welsh and the English working class. Force Labour to remember Clement Attlee.

When she was my MP I wrote to her 3 times about help for the aviation industry through Covid (Glasgow Airport is in her town, and thousands of her constituents work there). Not a single response. A few years ago, I was driving my car into town and on the radio, there was a programme about a school where they were digging up a time capsule from 100 years ago. The children were describing what was in it and one started reading out a letter that was in the capsule. The letter described how the rich were getting richer and the poor were getting poorer and how the politicians were just turning out to be liars... as they read that part out, I had to brake at a roundabout and I actually started to well up with tears... because I realised, not only had nothing changed, it was getting worse...and that was a few years ago. In 2022, the tories have not so much lowered the bar, they have rowed it out to sea, put weights around it, poured the champagne whilst watching it sink below the waves forever, all the time partying and profiting and telling us that everything is amazing. Lest we forget. Never forget this.
