There are still a number of centre right tories who have yet to see that they've become the minority in party they've devoted time and energy too for years if not decades. I think it´s virtually impossible for sensible moderate Tories to get elected these days, as the party membership and the parliamentary party is full of frothing lunatics. Basically, Johnson kicked out all the sane people in the Tory party. So the Tory party doesn´t really have a "moderate" wing of any kind these days, just different flavours of hard right. Whenever you don´t have debate in an organisation, you get ideological stupidity, and it´s happening in the Starmer era Labour party too. He has the opposite problem though, he´s kicked out his left wing.

@Shellewell3 күн бұрын
I agree the anti-bigot sentiment is rich from a party where leadership frontrunners will talk about relative validity of cultures, but in fairness I'm pretty sure the guy interjecting did also say "fuck Israel" so there is maybe an argument to be had there around bigotry.
@nl58283 күн бұрын
@Shellewell being against the policies of israel does not mean those views are bigoted (specifically “anti-semitic”), in the same way that being against the regime in saudi arabia does not mean those views are “islamophobic”!
@Shellewell3 күн бұрын
@@nl5828 sure, in the abstract I agree with you, but there is also no nuance in saying "fuck Israel" between the country itself and its current political regime. One is not bigotry and, arguably, the only moral stance while the other could be argued as bigoted. When somebody is being disruptive of their conversation or interview, few people are going to go "can we clarify that statement" and most will just brush it off like he did, nuanced and strictly accurate or not.
