A Russian customer of ours visits us in Dorchester, about 15yrs ago. He drives along from Ferndown and passes the Drax estate. ‘Who does this enormous wall belong to’ he asks us; ‘That’s the drax estate’; ‘What kind of drugs does he sell to be so wealthy’ 😂 classic. In Russia, drug dealers build walls round their houses. In all seriousness, Dorset is a county of two polar opposites. You’ve got the BCP conurbation which is diverse and is the size of a small city, then you’ve got the rural rest of it.

There are all sorts of problems here with this video and the other video that reduce the impact of what you are trying to say. First of all what's your message? 2nd you do jabber a bit incoherently when talking to each other. Is this about his family's exploitation of slaves, about his role as an MP or about his constituents? While the last two are linked they are not all linkled? When you do stupid things or indeed anything there can be unintended consequences. If you think his consituents are poor exploited saints you are misguided. They are not. 58% voted for him, while this may have been a marginal seat 20 years ago it isn't right now. The old codger in the video said it was because it was a Brexit election, that's no excuse. Brexit has strong bigoted and racist roots and many of those who voted for him will have a racist bias. Usually you get what you deserve when you vote along partisan lines. Its also naive to portray the locals as victims, dig into their ancestry and you will undoubtedly find links to slavery and smuggling, the Drax family were not the only Dorset residents who benefited from slavery. He's not fit to be an MP but then neither is the majority of parliament. Sadly much of this protest is about money; reparations. The Barbadian government could simply confiscate his estates there and distribute the proceeds of sale to those they felt were still suffering as a result of slavery in their past. That they don't suggests their politicians might have financial motives too. Reparations wont happen voluntarily and no British Government can afford to open that Pandora's box because there's no end to the unintended consequences (mostly bad) in going down that route. Focus your video on getting him out of office, focus on the locals who elected him, ask them why despite his familys known links to slavery and the vast wealth they accumulated and continue to enjoy from the suffering of thousands they thought he was an approp[riate person to represent them in parliament. Get out of yopur armchairs and go and make local consituents very uncomfortable but sadly I think you will find most of them really don't care.
