The irony is, there's no way this item's nearly worth this skill and attention and the shop and all. I enjoyed the process... have a similar item lined up to repair like this. Not gonna do it...thanx!

that pizza roller razer tool you've got would be perfect for what I need right now. I'm trying to cut out perfect pieces of some cheap vinyl wrap for my sx-650. Scissors suck. Well... I should say, I suck with scissors.

Depending on what surface you are refinishing, you can make the vinyl 1/2 inch bigger than you need, press it all down into place, and then trim the excess with a razor. Or google eBay for rotary cutter.

Who taught this guys anything about speaker repair? That poor voice coil is done. He may as well rip the softies out, replace magnet where it should be, and then shim the new voice coil over the bottom poll that he seems to think he needs to shave down! haha. OUCH!

I wish you had showed how to get the speaker open. I can't figure it out.

If you notice in the opening shot of the video, with the speaker apart, two tall black cylinders (and four short ones) that protrude from the back of the speaker front. Each cylinder has a hole at the end. That is the very hole that the screw goes through that marries the front of the speaker cabinet to the back of the speaker cabinet. With the grill off of your speaker, you should see from the front of the unit there are six holes. Put a number 2 Philips screwdriver down each hole and undo the screw at the bottom of all six. You can see that the two middle cylinders are extra long; therefore the screwdriver has to be sufficiently long to get to the screw at the bottom of these two “wells”.

A lot of effort for an average quality driver. I would've gone to either MCM Electronics (now Newark) or Parts Express and bought a replacement driver.

He was challenged by a buddy. Tell me you haven't taken more time than necessary to rise to a challenge like that?
