I was wondering if plants treated with Neonicotinoids (like many at big box stores and larger nurseries) have a negative effect on bees?

Hi Jennifer, That’s a great question. There are over 16,000 species of bees in the world and some preliminary research indicates that the effect of products like neonicotinoids may vary species by species so research is ongoing. Here is a presentation from a researcher looking into this very topic: ccuh.ucdavis.edu/sites/g/files/dgvnsk1376/files/inline-files/MajRundlof.Neonics.2017.pdf Additionally, our colleagues at the UC Davis California Center for Urban Horticulture have compiled some resources related to this topic. You can find them here: ccuh.ucdavis.edu/Resources/neonicotinoids You may also be interested in connecting with the folks at the UC Davis Honey and Pollination Center for more information: honey.ucdavis.edu/about/people
