i love these drills and exercises. somehow they help my body discover some basic feelings, at a slow pace, that i never could learn if i try to learn more advanced skills (eg like the plow stop) directly. (and yes, as a new beginner, the plow stop is an advanced skill for me! ). my prefererence about a technical aspect of your videos: i like it best when there is no background music when you're speaking. it stresses me just a little to have to strain to hear and process what you're saying. the videos where there is no background music when you speak let me feel relaxed and at ease, and let's my brain feel like i can have a comfortable and open and stress-free attitude to trying out your ideas. it kind of feels like having a friendly instructor on a nice summer day, speaking to me, in person, with all the sounds of the birds or wind or other environment around me, a feeling of "there is all this space and time to try something new, and i can easily hear and process what my instructor is saying" but with background music when you speak, i feel strain and slight stress, instead of comfort and relaxation and "oh, i want to try this, maybe it isn't so bad..! ". i think the videos with no background music when you speak, when mixed with your calm but slightly silly and fun (eg the emojis, or "oh no, go low!"), makes me associate good feelings to learning, when otherwise I'd feel stressed and a little avoidant!

Perfect timing!! I just started and while I'm working on the plow stop, I can't seem to fully stop with it downhill
@PollySkates8 ай бұрын
It’s not the best for downhill. If you want to stop downhill checkout my how to go downhill video! Definitely master your stopping before getting on a hill 🤙🙏💪

Thanks very much!! I don't intentionally go downhill 😅 just the way the road is. Can't do T stop yet as I'm not good at one foot glide/balance yet.. Do you have tips for practicing that?

Good idea to mention the importance of not bringing your toes together while attempting this kind of stop. Also, I tried a T-stop on my most recent skating workout, but it just dragged my foot in the direction that my foot was pointing. In short, it didn’t go well.
@Reriiru8 ай бұрын
Just put waaay less pressure on it at first. Start by not dragging it at all, just put the foot in the air as if you were dragging it. Then little by little start adding pressure. Otherwise you can very easily spin out (which is pretty normal at first) and even fall. Good thing is that by the time you fall you've probably already dissipated most of your energy, so it ain't that bad.
@FlashoftheBlades8 ай бұрын
@@Reriiru If my memory serves me correct, that’s what I did at first, but it didn’t prove very effective.
@Reriiru8 ай бұрын
@@FlashoftheBlades It ain't at first. T-stops without a spin are in general pretty slow. For instance, you can't really t-stop off of an incline. Or well, you can, sort of, but it's slow and hard and why would you. As you increase the pressure, you learn to stop with a turn and then with a spin, basically learning to control that spin out. After that, the only two times you use a t-stop is to either stand still on an incline (at the crosswalk, waiting for a walk signal for instance), or to gently loose speed in a narrow passage.

cool , I learned everything from u THX a lot. I watched your videos so much that it becomes weird when u suddenly just "walk" normally on grass 😀

Yesterday i fall little hard when downhill using snow plow to make zig-zag in order to maintain speed😂😂. I think T brake and soul slide is the best way in downhill
@PollySkates8 ай бұрын
Oh definitely. Plow isn’t good for downhill, I don’t ever recommend beginners get on hills either 😁 that’s why I said t stop is more effective and to find a smooth flat surface 🙏🤙
@clorischeng46935 ай бұрын
I don’t use the T stop because perfessionals skaters don’t use it much it’s will scratch ur expensive wheels
