O.k. Polo, this is like another song by Tool, AEnema, Descending picks on, I think anyway, us, the people, and our misunderstanding of music, maybe we miss so much beauty in music because we as people don't pay enough attention to what else is out there,.. and then all of a sudden it takes a band that nobody expected, Tool, to try and convey that message through the type of music only an intellect would listen to.. ironic really, but that's just Tool.

@@HellaKwik On point analysis there…Tool goes from one end of the meat grinder in tribal thrash beats to octave and note/rhythm changes that make grown men tear and tremble. The first shows I witnessed in the early 90’s were heavily that meat grinder (experienced from the center of a suffocating mosh pit) and by the late 90’s they’d near mastered every layer of complexity. Every decade since has only refined the entire process with each album pushing deeper limits of pleasure and pain. Hoping there’s still a couple more albums they can continue to squeeze out for our unworthy ear holes.

The opening being "sleepy" and "hypnotic" is spot on. The song is about the collapse of civilization. The opening lyrics are about how we as a society have become unaware that we're descending, "heedless in our slumber". It starts to build with "stir us from/our wanton slumber/mitigate our ruin". and a then gets really big when he sings "Sound the dread alarm" with a massive call to arms to save ourselves.

Maynard is the king, of what I call "Novel Verses" .. When a single verse or a few words are so deep, paint such a vivid picture..... It would take an entire book to explain it completely Some of my favorites are.,.. "Caligula would grin"...if you know your Roman history, , Caligula, a.k.a. little boots", taste ran toward the darker, more twisted, surly insane directions. "There's no love in fear"......It would take an unabridged dictionary to unpack that one completely. "Swing on the spiral of, your divinity and still be a human"..... WOW, .. Yeah .....At least a full encyclopedia Britannica set needed. " God damn, shit the bed"...... So universally understandable, so relatable, it transcends language. "I was wrong.....This changes everything."...,.First step on the path towards destroying the ego.

I'm really enjoying your videos. Descending is a super important song in my family. I flew my sons Mason and Cole from CA to VA in 2019 to see Tool for their first time. We were graced with a preview of Descending with the album not coming out until August. During the song Mason leaned over to me and said "we're watching gods perform!" Live it has a crazy ability to synchronize the crowd and connect everyone. Hard to explain but the energy is very high and it can be life changing. We lost Mason almost 2 years later (and almost 2 years ago to the day) and we play this song on his anny as a memorial because of how it hit him at that show. It changed his life. Super important song - almost perfect...

This is my current favorite Tool song. There are other masterpieces in your future. This song, to me, is about how humanity has only been on earth for a short time, has screwed up, is about go extinct, and should fight to preserve life our place on this planet. The second half of the song is that battle playing out. In the end, humanity fails,.the earth shrugs us off, but eventually something once again comes ashore...

I think tool is one of the greatest bands that’s ever existed their ability to write such complex sounds, and combine it all into one song is absolutely amazing. I love how they single out each band member and give that artist such range of exploration is what makes them great, and it must be listen to on a very good sound system that have all of the levels needed the high tweeter down to the low, strong base and everything in between you have to listen to it loud

This song is about society and how it is falling apart but our own hands. It’s also is a reminder that either we make some hard choices and solve some of humankind’s deep seated issues or we will bring about our own ruin/demise. Tool has been my favorite band for a very long time… mid 90’s I would say. The music is so complex and the lyrics are deep and intellectual. You definitely need to listen and contemplate the lyrics many times

Not say that this is necessary, but a personal choice - In the spring I listened to this song after eating a small handful of sacred fungus. I was in the woods crying my eyes out under the beauty of the trees and clouds..I was gyrating like some kind of Egyptian goddesses feeling SO MUCH. Memories of Iraq turned into memories of love and understanding as I grew. As humanity struggles to overcome our negative traits we learn the true power of our light. Absolutely LOVED watching you react to this man, been listening to Tool for a quarter century and I get that same stank face every single time I listen to them haha.

Tool makes these long epic songs that are complex and incredible and when you try to compare them to regular mainstream bands that are making 3-4 minute songs for the radio that all sound similar you really see there's no comparison and Tool's music is separate from that.

I agree to the nth level. Tool is a band that if you got with them early. Everything mirrors the growth through life. And then you find yourself with appreciation for when things get better. I find it interesting that now I judge myself on which Tool album I relate to. Undertow is dangerous but I'm so happy my cd player has not released Fear inoculum since it's release. I did however find a way to get A Tribe Called Quest to work.

Danny's drumming in the long instrumental section is just out of this world. The way he plays these polyrythms and moving the feel around is absolutely mindblowing. I play the drums for over 20 years and I can play quite good but man I wish I had Danny Carey's mind when it comes to writing drumparts. He's one of the all time greats and I'm glad I've seen him play live several times. TOOL is a must see live band and they won't be doing this forever so if you have the chance, go experince them in concert. You will have a fantastic, memorable evening.

When I heard Tool for the first time, it was 2003 ... two years after Lateralus came out but it was still the Album that introduced me to Tool. Oddly enough, back then I guess I wasn't mature enough (mind you, english is not my native language and I was just 16 and couldn't comprehend the lyrics). I somehow forgot about them and basically rediscovered them 7 years later in 2011. That time it was 10000 days and I became a true fan and have been ever since. I really love all their music today and the long waiting period for the new album was definitely worth it and "Descending" might just be my favorite track (but it's close as I love every song)

I'm 45. Tool has been my go to since 1993.Every song creates, translates, interpretation of a mood that you are experiencing in your life. That is what is beautiful. I have always felt that these guys understand and convey the universal feelings we all share, i.e. pissed, sad, elation, frustration, solitude, on and on. Open interpretation, and,in my opinion, is my favorite attribute of this band.

Suggestions: "Right in Two" and "46 and 6" are a couple of songs I think you'll really enjoy, and that would get lots of view.... they will quickly become a couple more of you favorites! Really enjoy your reactions.. you come across as open, honest, and sincere in your experience, and that's what i like. You can only hear music or experience art for the first time once, but these reaction videos are like a second chance to hear them for a first time... another cool avenue you should consider (if you haven't already) would be to do movie reactions... I think you would find a quick path to monetization... good luck... if you do movie reviews, a few movies I'd enjoy seeing your reaction to, if you haven't seen them already,.. are: "American History X", "Shawshank Redemption", " Green Mile" just to get started...
