So they wrote so many tunes for their toxicity album that didn't make the cut to that album that they released this album for like half the price of a normal album at the time. Can remember buying a copy in virgin megastores 😂 Superb purchase. Loved the aesthetic as well. Looked like a random burnt cd.

I love every SOAD album, they are all bangers. But Steal This Album hits different. It just feels more moody and dark to me. It’s my favorite.

Steal This Album holds a special place in my heart. I picked it up when it released in 2002, and for a few rough months of my life it was the only CD I owned. It got played a lot and it's full of great tracks. One good memory from that time. I'm glad you enjoyed Innervision, it's one of my favourites.

Great reaction. Not many reactors get past their big hits and dig into their wider catalogue. So many gems. This album is one of the few albums that i can just hit play on and never skip a song.

Fun fact: when released, you could literally "steal this album". When Metallica was throwing a tantrum over music downloads, SOAD believed their music should be made available to everyone. So they put the album out to be downloaded for free.

My mom got mad at my best friend at this time cuz she thought he was being cheap and burned it for me rather than gift it. I had to explain the album art to her lol

No it was leaked as toxicity 2 so they renamed it steal this album
@joaquinlezcano23722 ай бұрын
@@rody8376it was even better than that. They thought: "you stole from us? Fine, get your cheap versions, we are going to make it properly. And make new songs as a plus 😋"
@TheBunnyb0yАй бұрын
I’m pretty sure it’s shortly after the fact, and at the time it was new and scary, while even the intention might even be to safeguard smaller bands income, idk if “exposure” was a thought back than.. but idk imo it’s hard to judge ppl that get thrown into something new and scary

The name of this album "Steal this Album" was a nod to "Steal This Book" which was written about the counter-culture of the 60s by Abbie Hoffman. His book gives lots of instructions about how to fight against the government and corporations in anyway possible. Powerful stuff.

Hometown Armenians from Glendale, CA, where a huge number of the Armenian diaspora landed after a stop or two in other parts or the world. As an LA band with a passionate fanbase of rockers and fellow Armenian-Americans, they were able to cut through the noise first in LA and then beyond. Their on going support for recognition of the Armenian genocide makes them heroes in their community.

Very underappreciated song from an equally underappreciated album. "Ego brain" is even better, but the album is littered with gems; "Mr Jack" and "A.D.D." are also fantastic, and "Highway Song" is one of my all-times.

I don't know to much about this band out of Glendale, California. I knew some guys from that area and they were like yeah ok. Just really played back. So listening to these guys doesn't surprise me with their lyrics and vocals. That's what I thought they would bring to the table. Visceral madness has spoken.

I’m sure someone else provided this information, and I just didn’t see it in the comments, but Steal This Album is made up of all songs they recorded for the Toxicity album that didn’t make the cut but a lot of them got leaked. A buddy showed me their leaked album before Toxicity’s release and Innervision was one of my favorites and I was shocked it didn’t make the album.

I remember buying this album and it was a great "b-side" to Toxicity. But I loved the name and aesthetic of the burned CD, as the unfinished album was leaked early online, which I definitely downloaded and burned a copy of lol. This was obviously a disappointment to the band as they were finishing the album, so they played into that.
