"I don't think that was an accident." I very much doubt that anything in SOAD's lyrics was ever an accident. Only stumbled across the channel... last night. I am now looking forward to Serj going "la la la" a lot in your future.

Awards are usually so out of touch, but in this case I think that the best (mainstream) act putting out one of their best songs that was directly speaking about war for cash as we were experiencing at the time was a perfect storm that made the most deserving actually win for once

@@jedinxf7 lol. That's right. That was the only time in the last 80 years that the military industrial complex wasn't involved. I totally forgot. All the senators and representatives who own stocks in the companies than make the weapons suddenly left office for awhile, because they had to many morals to stuff their own pockets at the expense of the soldiers whose lives they ruined for no other reason. My bad. I had Iraq confused with all the other pointless wars we've been engaged in since WWII. Thanks for reminding me.

Great reaction and commentary. And I agree, such an inspirational band. I think their secret is just simply trying to wrap up a message within an authentic mood and always trying to serve the song even if they don't know where it is going to take them, but to keep the mood and initial intention alive until it is done. SOAD also have a RHCP level of crazy that charges everything thing they do with a bucket load of charisma. Love them. Thank you for your video.

I really loved SOAD, when they were around and it makes me sad that they're not any longer. At some point they said, that they stopped making music as SOAD because they became disillusioned that nothing changed - which hits even harder when you realize that their messages are still needed and relevant today. It's hard, not to despair. Great reaction, always nice to see young talented people to experience and appreciate bands that I grew up with. Keep it up!

Your comment reminded me of Band on the Run (Paul McCartney and Wings) which was a song amalgomated from a few unfinished works. Great reaction... your ability to describe what's happening is, as usual, astounding. I can hear the symmetry in the different sections of the song, and the tempo modulation is not really subtle in this one, lol... but putting that into words is something I would struggle with. You really zeroed in on the right sections to compare to make it evident. You are very clear in what parts to focus on while giving examples, and it's appreciated. Great editing.

I was at a local rock concert, and between one band and the other, they blasted this song on the speakers. I was like, is that System? IT IS SYSTEM! And I could not have enough of it. I was as excited as you shushing my friend. When I got home I downloaded it and learned it on the guitar. The next weekend I went to buy the CD.
