Dude! I was in Mons, BE from 1979 - 1982 working at NATO HQ. For my 22nd birthday I gave myself tickets to the Led Zeppelin concert in Brussels. As 'Trampled Under Foot' finished they all left the stage except Jimmy Page. He sat on a stool under a purple spotlight, the only light in the auditorium, and just jammed. Wonderful! Unseen by anyone, in the darkness the rest of them reset themselves on stage. Jimmy hits a long, low note....it gradually climbs into a really high scream, feeding back thru the amps, echoing throughout the place!! As it stops the only light, the purple spot, goes out and for a split second it's dead silence in total blackness. Suddenly three huge flash charges on stage blow up and they go right into 'Kashmir'! It's like, "BOOM!!! Duh-da-duh, Duh-da-duh, DUH-DA-DUH" I still get goose bumps when I think about it, and that was 45 years ago. Wow, now I DO feel 'old'. LOL!

From what little I know, Jimmy was a studio/session guitarist. Played with/for many singers, groups, and whatever came along. He was well versed in numerous styles of music before he became part of Led Zeppelin. I know nothing of any formal training he may or may not have had, but he was well versed in a lot of different guitar techniques, which (fortunately for all of us) led to his unique contribution to LZ.

In 2 hours 20 million tickets were requested from all different parts of the world for that tribute. That broke the all time record, the venue only hold 20 thousand, so they had to do a lottery system. Those lucky 20 thousand got to experience something special that night.

You need to hear the studio version of this song, this is their masterpiece, but this live version is still great. Then the live version of Stairway to Heaven, this one is the greatest song ever. :)

I fell in love with Zeppelin when I was like 12 because of my Pop pop. I named my cat Zepp 😂 They were my favorite band for years until Tool took over. Still love them both with my entire soul.

I heard an interview with Robert Plant. He was asked what is his favorite song personally, he answered, Kashmir 👌 ❤

I’m all in for this journey! Might be a good idea to start with their first album and progress so you can hear their changes from album to the next. They were very influential for their time and years ahead of everyone else to include being influences to music in general to this day.

Check out Kashmir by Zep at the reunion concert in 2007 at the 02 Arena in London. Just like a fine wine, better with time. Saw Zep twice in the 70's. Unbelievable!

I saw them in Brussels, BE in October 1979. It was my 22nd birthday present to myself. Kashmir was incredible.

My brother had all Led Zeppelin on vinyl record in 80’s. Some were “masters” . There is something unlike hearing these songs as originally intended. The warmth and lush depth is unlike a digital recording.

I'm 57 and this is my favorite all time band! You need to dive deep. Everything is they did was spectacular!
