Hey, Scot here, PV kilts are my casual/semi-formal kilts and I've stuck to using wools for the big formal occasions - weddings and such. I don't even think about going out in a woollen one, simply because those things cost a not insignificant amount of money! Not to say you wouldn't be spending a fair bob on a good quality PV one, but you feel better about your chances. Great discussion, appreciate the stuff you fellas do.

All the pros of Pv over wool is the reason why I got a pv great kilt over wool because I go camping and hiking in a great kilt. By the way thank you guys very much for the PV great kilt I bought from you guys it looks great!

Another thing that to me seems like a really big deal would be that not only does the PV resist stains, but it's machine washable! (According to your website, that is.)

I recommend two miniature fans strapped to the knees and pointed *upward* for extra comfort. Just make sure the fans aren't too powerful, otherwise you'll get that unsightly Seven Year Itch phenomenon.

I have some expensive antique kilts that can only be worn for special occasions.. Good quality PV is great for getting wearing when walking the dogs. When it gets muddy it can be washed in a bucket of water and hung out to dry.

I agree with everything you said, plus PV is cooler to wear. But its stiff hand made the length I bought from you impossible to fashion as an erisaid. I am going to make a simple riding skirt out of it, which will benefit from the stiffness.

PV really helps you build a kilt collection fast. Then you can you can take more time selecting the tartan you want to commit to in wool.

My PV kilt just doesn't hang like my wool kilt. That said it was a 1/4 of the price of wool and will work in the mean time as I drop weight. It's also a good knock-about option.

We metal fabricators and blacksmiths cannot wear any kilts that has synthetic material to it It catches on fire way too easy My Celtic Earth Brothers

Yea that's a good point. I've never tried to weld in a kilt but I'll be damned if I want a hot ember to hit me in the dk . Denim jeans seem to work so why not just go for a heavy denim kilt ?

Hi. Does a Poly-viscose kilt look okay with a 100% wool, say, Argyle jacket and vest, or should I look for a matching kilt outfit made of either all poly viscose or all wool? Equally, 100% wool pullovers on poly-viscose kilt, is this okay, or would it look out of place? Is it okay to mix?

Poly not good for pipe smokers. Burn comes almost instantly and spreads quicker than you can smack it to stop. You should see my robe and winter jacket. Holes so big in some places I can put a finger completely through without stretching the fabric. Men in our family were Scottish on both sides and they ALL smoked pipes. Current favorite: Mac Barens Golden Extra, buy it by the pound. Mmm Mmm good.

I think it's really best to save for a wool kilt that is versatile and you like instead of getting a PV kilt to start your collection quicker. It's better for the environment and ultimately you'll feel better in a more expensive kilt that you like than you ever will in a cheaper kilt.

Hi. I'm a Scot from Edinburgh and served in a Scottish regiment.( The Royal Scots ) I'm frankly appalled that you would as a kilt seller consider even selling that rubbish. Always use good quality wool. It will keep you warm and dry and of course you will look good in it, also if looked after it will last many years. I very much doubt you would find a Scot wearing one of these dish cloths. God forbid ! Great channel. Best regards from Scotland

A poly viscose kilt looks and feels like a super large dish towel. They don't hold the pattern well without getting misshaped. In my not so humble opinion, if your getting a kilt get a REAL kilt not a dish towel. you get what you pay for and these should never be made.

Are you writing about Acrylic, "poly wool blend", or other import fabrics or PV woven by the same mills in the UK that weave wool tartan cloth? I would agree that not all fabric is created equal. The true issue is that "Poly Viscose" is a term that is thrown around almost generically to mean "non wool cloth for a kilt" where most people actually mean loosely woven Acrylic, not actual Poly Viscose.
