What's really scary about this episode is the lack of music. When the video started the music sounded like he was doing a paranormal investigation series. But later on the music just became completely silent. I think that's what horror movies are missing, no music sometimes disturbs people. But most horror movies prefer to use Erie music to "scare" you. Also no jump scares. It's better to build up tension then actually just go for the typical FNAF jump scare. (Except there was a jump scare at the end, but that's besides the point)
@temmieton9755 Жыл бұрын
I feel like the jumpscare at the end was deserved after all the atmosphere and small little things he did to just make it horror without all of the cheap scares.
@totallyormalpinoyguy1998 Жыл бұрын
The end jumpscare actually made me punch the screen of my phone.

The part where AVGN hits the Polybius cabinet while trying to get help kinda works as a jumpscares. It's unexpected and sorta loud but there is nothing scary about it so it keeps the mood going.
@yamato611411 ай бұрын
Jumpscares, when used properly, are actually pretty effective. The problem is a lot of badly done horror tends to rely too heavily on them so they loose their effectiveness.

So, essentially, Polybius is a creepypasta that's an amalgamation of true stories that were twisted to fit the story. That's interesting.
@kodekristian5 жыл бұрын
That's just a description of how humans think though. Humans are incapable of original ideas; every possible thought, fantasy and daydream that can form in your head are based on things you have previously been exposed to. This applies to every work of fiction, every piece of art and every product humanity has ever produced.

One of the many great things about this episode is getting to see the Nerd not start an episode already screaming in anger. I missed those days.
@Mechwolf7 жыл бұрын
He's gradually left the "Angry" part behind which is disappointing because that's what made these episodes so great. For a bit he kept it up but I think he found it hard to be angry without manufacturing it too much. I think it also has something to do with the fact that he covered most of the games that frustrated him in his childhood where most of his pent up rage came from.

yeah except for one thing.... I was so disappointed when I found this out. THE SCREEN IS SHOWING A FUDGING VIDEO! HE'S NOT EVEN PLAYING THE GAME! I was seriously hoping to get my hands on that ROM just for kicks, so I could reverse engineer it. There is no ROM to be had. It's twelve seconds of video! It's a trick! You see about halfway in when the screen is reflecting off his glasses? there's nothing there. He's staring at the windows 10 desktop and pretending to push the buttons. They show you the PC and the video file in the behind the scenes video. I knew it was coming but I had still never felt so betrayed. A video? Come on. Please. The best part is they even reuse the same video clip twice. If you look closely at the screen at 16:08 (that part where he points the camera at the screen) and step through the video frame by frame (period and comma ;) you can see the arrow at the top, until a cube almost goes off the screen at the bottom, then the arrow moves to the right. You see the same sequence if you step through it frame by frame at 21:27. And they thought no one would notice! I mean, nobody did, including me until I watched the behind the scenes video, but STILL!
