Polycam to SolidWorks Tutorial

Are you able to cut, extrude etc when it's in solid body form? How would you go about taking all the lumps and bumps out?

not much you can do with solidworks. I am not sure about polygon based software programs like Blender. They might have something more to offer

Before converting to solid use the built in Mesh Tools like Surface From Mesh to convert the scanned mesh into usable Solidworks surfaces. If you’d prefer to work with the solid then you can create 3D sketches and boundary extrudes. Another option is using the Direct Editing tools to delete and patch.. but that would suck with all those surfaces. Use the Mesh Tools, if you’re having trouble finding them right click the command manager tab and enable the tool. Also, ignore people like Aryan who claim to be Solidworks teachers but don’t even know the available toolsets. I have yet to find an unsolvable problem in Solidworks. That isn’t to say Solidworks is the absolute best, because tools like Blender will probably simplify life for you faster than Solidworks might.. but literally, if you can get something into Solidworks, there’s ALWAYS a way to achieve what you’re intending. Might just take some effort.

Is there a way to do this and keep the color/image from the scan?

Polycam apparently only outputs to meters and you must have had your import units set to cm for that file type in Solidworks. If you set it to meters you should not have to scale. You can also set it to try to import as a solid body and if it fails it comes in as surfaces

I have a question. Why in Solidworks lose the colors?. Because before I opened the archive in Inventor and the colors were preserved.

When scanning an object, except for the bottom face, if we turn the object over and scan after the scanning process is finished, how can we do the alignment process, that is, how will we combine the bottom of the object with the other sides.

ima need to try to do this and after put the file in to mastercam trying to make water blocks for computer components
