I said it before and I am going to say this once again that blender community have so many KZbinrs who make brilliant tutorials but you and Derek Elliott are so fun to watch & you both provide so much information which usually people skip. Such high quality tutorials definitely help people like us. :)

Now please, tell me something you don't know? Your tutorials are amazing and explained to the highest degree without anything that could or should be missing. You are a teacher that is beyond reproach to the utmost level. I was a founding member of a graphics software company called Corel, director of Product Development, you my friend, I would have hired in a drop of the bucket. Your knowledge of Blender is outstanding and second to none. Every time I crack open the tutorials on Blender and I see that you have posted a fresh one, I watch in amazement at how well you've learned the infinite details of this product with masterful understanding. You have become the professor on Blender. I and others thank you so much...

Thank you very much for the kind words, Gary. Did you work on CorelDRAW by any chance? As a child I used to play around with making text follow curves in that program. And now I'm still playing around with stuff on the computer, but this time with generous people like you leaving inspiring comments on my work. Thanks for watching my videos!

@@Polyfjord Yes I worked on CorelDRAW. We really took inspiration from Adobe and backwards engineered it to work on the PC. We even took the majority of the fonts and scanned them, we then hired students to trace each font naming them as different ones but if you were to zoom in on the fonts that Adobe and or the PS (Post Script) fonts you would find a massive difference in the quality compared to the our fonts and the originals, we were not in the same league. I know the in's and out's of the product so well that when we had the first CorelDRAW prize, we found tthere was a beautiful piece of graphics but it took nearly two minute to load, once I got the file and tweaked it, it took less than five seconds to bring up on the screen, this was on the old 386 computers. Could I tell you stories about the company (chuckles). Thanks for your words and the question, please continue to excite the crowds...

Thanks for the video! I love experimenting with lighting tend to do everything based on whether it feels good to look at. I never really thought about why I prefer area lights over point lights but the discussion about shadowing helped to clear that up. They are so versatile. 💡 Now you've got me wanting to play with lights, but I'm way behind schedule for other projects. Such a bad influence. 😉😂

Thank you so much for this fundamental lesson in lighting. This is such an important concept for beginners to grasp and you've demonstrated it so clearly. And not only did you teach how to think about placing lights as sculpting the shadows, but you also taught a great technique for working in Blender while placing lights. Having a fixed render view looking through the scene camera while adjusting the placement of the lights in a different view helps so much when it comes to visualizing what you're actually doing with the relationships between the lights and objects in your scene.
