That's actually the biggest problem of this game. The game does not reward contraband smugglers enough. The Merry Men extension fixes it a bit.

Philippe Gaboury Definitely, me and my friends played this game a lot and lying is by far the worst strategy I somehow managed to get like 7 contraband through in a game and still lost to a combination of other people playing honestly and getting king in 2 categories

My favorite running theme in Overboard is that Simone is almost always the underdog because of some combination of the following: 1) She seems as if she's lying even when she's telling the truth (it was hilarious that she accused two separate people of this quality in this episode). 2) Bad luck. 3) Being vulnerable to mind games.

One night werewolf takes all of this points and amplifies them by infinity. It was pointed out that she seems like she is lying when she isn’t, she has incredibly bad luck with cards (she got the only villager card when everyone else was on team werewolf) and both Jenna and Brian openly, and easily, gaslit the hell out of her the last round.

starting off with the statement that my girlfriend demanded i tell Ashley that she loves her. so, Ashley? plz dont steal my girlfriend i love her. ): jeff!!! jeff is always so funny in the most subtle ways. he's so goofily cute, he's my favorite polygon guy. i love seeing vids with him playing whatever. he really brightens everything up! clayton has really found his niche in goofy editing but this video has some good just general editing to it. i love the closeups and perfectly timed goofs that get thrown around by him. ashley and simone should always play games together. there's something so funny about ashley's brand of stoicism paired with simone's chaotic energy. they're truly a perfect pair. this game looks SO fun! some of the games are a bit out of my friend group's scope of interest, but this looks amazing. i'm so glad y'all played this, i'm so excited to buy this now! okay love yall bye!

The problem with this game is the person who is always honest almost always wins. It takes away from the fun of smuggling in the contraband. The Merry Men expansion tries to get over this a bit but with limited success. Still, you guys having lots of fun with the game makes it fun to watch! Nice job!

About the question at 4:20 about sounding like lying. It's actually kinda simple. It's because of the tone of the voice, being serious, calm, being honest and telling the truth in the everyday life. People then get so fixated on someone that is allways so calm and honest without much of a change in their voice that they just want to catch them lying. Like it looks to them that it's impossible that someone is not lying, so they are starting to doubt everything someone say, because they can't say the difference anyway. And with this explanation if I am right, I also bet that it's hard for you to call when he is sarcastic or not. He might accent it differently and you will catch it, but allways with a bit of a doubt and thought in the back of your mind if he is being serious or ironic.

Quick gameplay tip for everyone, since we all sometimes forget what we put in our bags: put 1-5 coins on one of the four legal goods on your player mat! Shipping three apples? (Or at least claiming to!) Then put three coins on the apple space on your mat. This tip brought to you by someone who's played a lot of Sheriff and used to always forget what he'd put in his bag at least once per game.

on the early version of the game ("Robin Hood", Brazilian exclusive), the sheriff can only choose one bag and the rest go through. but also there are limited "wagons" so only one player can take 4 things, only one can take 3 things, and so on.

The best strategy is to make a deal with someone who’s sheriff before you, make a deal saying if they let your contraband thru, you’ll do the same. Then when you’re sheriff open their bag anyway because in the rules it specifically says all verbal agreements are not binding if they cross turns
