I love this game. It's so much fun with more people. I played a game where I was a fascist and played a liberal law early in the game to earn trust. I got super lucky and was president when the fascist law passed that allows the president to look at someone elses card to see if they're a liberal or fascist - I picked the guy who was Hitler which was easy to explain because the liberals were absolutely convinced they knew it was him so I said I would, as a fellow 'liberal,' set the record straight and acted super shocked and told everyone that Hitler was actually a liberal. They believed me and then I managed to convince everyone to vote in Hitler to win the game. No one trusted me again in the rest of the games we played that night and I was shot in the next game. It was one of the best game nights I've ever been to.
@missjenna90506 жыл бұрын
You should have seen a game I've played where I was fascist and had almost undisputed trust from the liberals because people put their trust in me too easy. I managed to tell Hitler that i was one of her fascists within the first 5 minutes, and later on, convinced a liberal president not to kill Hitler, but to kill one of her liberal teammates instead. Eventually, the presidency came around to a liberal who trusted my advice to pick Hitler as chancellor and we won. Another favorite game of mine was a 7 player game where I convinced one liberal to trust me and my fascist team and Hitler unconditionally. We completely destroyed the game and won, and the liberal player i used to win didn't talk to me for a week, she was so mad! Both of these games happened with 7 players, it's my personal favorite amount of players.

@@cormacabbey2404 Not really as Hitler doesn't necessarly know his fascists from the beginning (in a 7+ player game). In a 5 player game that holds true
@bitcoinisrael10004 жыл бұрын
@@cormacabbey2404 It is simply not true that "An even game is a win for fascists". Let's say there are 4 blue and 4 red on the board, a typical situation for the 1st kill. Then the deck has 7 red and 2 blue. If fascists go for rejecting all nominations and picking random cards off the top, their chance of winning is (7/9) * (6/8) = 58.3%, which is only a hair above 50%. It's a good fallback strategy if things don't go their way, but for a decent chance to win they actually have to convince at least 1 liberal to trust them. Basically exactly like in any other part of the game. In fact, there are rare situations where fascists can lose even when they're a majority (if there are 3 liberals in a row who all reject, or if Hitler is president and draws 2 blue, etc.)
@scottydog7714 жыл бұрын
@@bitcoinisrael1000 No if it is even then the fascist are more likely to win because the deck is so heavily favoured for fascist. What you're also forgetting is that if the fascist has the shot they could have very easily thrown a liberal policy so then it's actually only 1 left in the deck. If the fascists get a majority they always win as they reveal themselves as fascist and elect hitler as chancellor. Even if they did get 3 lib policies they can just veto the cards and try again.
@bitcoinisrael10004 жыл бұрын
@@scottydog771 "More likely to win" is true, and a far cry from "a win for fascists" which was what Cormac said. The odds could be higher than I stated if a blue was thrown etc, but it's still far from certain victory. So in an even game, fascists still want to maintain the lie to increase their odds. As for majority fascists - read again what I said. The Fascists could elect Hitler, *if* one of them gets to be president! But with 9 players, even after 2 liberals are killed, there are still 3 liberals remaining. And the position around the table could be that they are all in a row, and the first in that row gets to start the round. If the liberals figure out who the fascists are, they can simply elect within themselves, and all the fascists can do is reject. And after 3 rejections, a random card is drawn off the top, which could be blue. With 7 players it's a bit more interesting. You can't have 3 liberals in a row (after 2 are dead), but you can have Hitler followed by 2 liberals. Hitler doesn't know who the liberals are. The Fascists can come out as Fascists... But so can the liberals! The liberals can claim they are in fact Fascists, in order to confuse Hitler. And if both pairs say the same things, Hitler doesn't know for sure. And he could choose a liberal. The fascists will approve (the alternative is even worse for them) and if there are 2 blue cards (with 1 required for a liberal win), the liberals win. Or it could be Hitler followed by 2 Facists. If he accidentally chooses a liberal, the liberals (and Hitler) will approve, leading to the same result. So, as I said, with a majority of Facists, a liberal win is highly unlikely and requires the stars to align just right, but it's not impossible. (There is no need to consider the case of 3 blue here, because that's impossible if only 1 blue card is needed for liberal win. And if more than 1 blue is required, then all of this is irrelevant, because then the Facists are indeed guaranteed an opportunity to elect Hitler. Also, if Hitler is followed by a fascist and liberal, the fascists win; while Hitler doesn't know who among the following players is fascist, he knows that one of them is, as they will each deny being in the same team as the other. So he can reject his own nomination, and whoever is the fascist will elect him and win).

You guys actually messed up at one point. If no government is formed and the top card is a fascist policy, any powers that would usually be unlocked upon its passage are supposed to be ignored. I had a thought about a like expansion that could be cool, and maybe make the game more relevant to how the far right works online today. Instead of the fascists knowing who hitler is, hitler and the fascists both get shown a "dogwhistle" word or something that they need to use to signal to one another. But one of the liberals is also shown the dogwhistle. I feel like it'd reflect well how online now there's all these fascist dogwhistles getting thrown around, and pointing them out can make you sound crazy, like "ooooh he said the magic number, he did the brackets thing, he's dogwhistling".

Sam Galloway Clayton was being totally honest though. Also he was like explaining the game. He said as u can see I'm not facist alrdy. Kind of pointless to lie to the audience if u're basically the game master and we the audience don't really understand how the game works.
@DairunCates6 жыл бұрын
The issue with that is that that IS EXACTLY how a lot of board game geeks like to play evil hidden roles. They use their knowledge, and the fact that they'll explain things to you that are beneficial to the good guys as a shield. Then when they see a good opportunity to abuse their clout, they'll take it to make a surgical strike. Because of that, I personally had Clayton labeled as a clear fascist, but not Hitler early on, and he kept reinforcing it with his actions. That's about the only time an experienced hidden role player will talk excessively, because it tends to draw suspicion on you otherwise (you also don't clam up because that's even worse). I actually thought either Ashley or Jeff were Hitler for a bit. It was hard to tell if Jeff was acting flustered or he really had just painted himself in the color. Either way, I knew he wasn't doing his role well, but couldn't tell if people pressing on him was because he was a liability to the plan or not. If he WAS a fascist, he was a perfect fall guy for the team to get Hitler elected. Ashley was an obvious fascist of some kind from the beginning. She clammed up IMMEDIATELY once discussion started, and that's a common defense for bad roles on slightly less experienced players. It makes you really suspicious. So, if you're a fascist, you've labeled yourself untrustworthy, and if you're liberal, you've made your teammate suspect you. I thought she might be Hitler for a while because that would definitely be a reason for someone to want to draw even less attention to themselves from the beginning, and I think Clayton suspected her as Hitler until she stupidly got 3 fascist laws passed under her power. The only way she would be Hitler at that point was if she was a master class level player trying to disguise herself as a common fascist so another experienced player would nominate her to get the power of killing next round. Possible, but I considered it unlikely considering her actions. I had Simone as a suspicious party for a while, but considering how much she acted out early on, I thought it was unlikely she was Hitler, because drawing attention to yourself is the worst thing to do as Hitler (and was probably a good reason Clayton was able to call her out). She eventually got into enough of a flow that I moved from Jeff to her as the other Liberal for a while (I assume Pat was a liberal until near the end). I never quite got her as Hitler, but that's also because I believe Clayton was a fascist until the end. From Clayton's viewpoint, the answer was obvious once it became his turn. He knew it was one of those two and one of them acted suspicious at the beginning but started to clam up and had a very suspicious vote of "Nein" near the end, and the other almost seemed to want to draw attention to himself near the end (Pat). So, among those two, it's almost always going to be the quieter player if they're not completely incompetent (or sometimes very smart in VERY specific scenarios). As they said, Pat did an EXCELLENT job as a fascist. He talked exactly as much as he needed to and pushed things only when it didn't make him suspicious. Pushing too hard on getting elected was his downfall though. He clearly wanted to make his party seem innocent. So, I knew he wasn't Hitler, but he went from obvious Liberal to suspect in that moment. Needless to say, it's a pretty complicated game, but from Clayton's perspective, it was somewhat of a foregone conclusion after they shot Jeff.

IdleThoughts there’s a reason but it is odd. It’s based of their experiences personally I don’t think that’s a reason to think they are hitler mainly because hitler WANTS power atleast once or twice to get proven mainly twice because at that point you become “confirmed” in the eyes of a true lib even if you’re president you get a bullet if it’s in zone 2 so libs sometimes don’t want it that way they have a higher chance of being president in the end game where chancellorship is only given to 100% proven and people in “conflict”
