Something about this piece sends chills down and butterflies in your stomach. I'm not sure why but it's in that ineffable Twilight zone that great art sits that gives you the sense of sensory transcendence if you allow yourself to be open to it.

Good analysis by the "A Team!" But isn't that the same archaic statue shown twice with different dates? 480 vs 580 B.C.?

Yes. It likely would've originally held one, but since it was removable and since it likely was made at least partly of metal, it probably was either lost or melted down for reuse.
