I was going to ask about the brads tarnishing, but I guess sealing with Varathane is the answer to that. Very interested that you used alcohol ink on the silver cap ends and would love to see a quick video on that process. Thanks.
@SweetWillowDsgn8 жыл бұрын
+Cheryl Young It would actually be ok with me if they tarnished since it's a distressed look anyway. The Varathane will help keep them fresh though. I will post something about coloring with alcohol inks. Thanks for watching.

Hello Sweet Willow! I am new to your videos. I have had horses and lots of leather what with saddle sand bridles, etc.. Patina would be inappropriate on leather but if you want to age it, crackle would be perfect as leather gets fine, hairline cracks in it. Just a suggestion to help your leather appear more realistic. Thanx for sharing your amazing talents with us beginners! A true fan, Ruth!

I love this too!! Where do you get the genesis gel? Is it specifically for polymer clay?
@SweetWillowDsgn8 жыл бұрын
Missi, this Genesis Thick Medium part of the Genesis Artist Heat Set Oils. They also have oil paint and other mediums that require heat to set them making them perfect for polymer clay and many polymer clay doll makers use them. They're not exclusively for polymer clay but for all artists. Here's an Amazon link: amzn.to/2bZ47Id I've only been able to find them on line. I really like this product.

Sweet Willow Designs Thank you for the info

Sweet Willow Designs I clicked the link and it showed a jar of genesis oil thickening medium. Is that what you used to seal the back?And you said it bonds clay together like tls only not as messy ?
@SweetWillowDsgn8 жыл бұрын
Hi Missi, this link is correct. I use Genesis Thick Medium to bond raw and baked clay as I prefer it to TLS. I don't use it as a sealer, only as a "glue". I use Varathane polyurethane (water based) as a sealer.
@RameyRocks8 жыл бұрын
Sweet Willow Designs I have been wanting to get some verathane and use it. I think I saw it on amazon for like $25!! Do you know if there are any other places that maybe sell it in a smaller amount so that it isn't so expensive? I think the amazon one was like a pint or a quart which is a lot. It would probably dry up before I could use it all. Matter of fact I know it would
@annitagalvan90494 жыл бұрын
Hello, very nice tutorial. I have a query. How the baked bezel didn't pop up of the raw outer part after being cured, since no bond was used between them? Thanks a lot.
@SweetWillowDsgn4 жыл бұрын
As noted in the video I used a snake of clay between the bezel and center and applied a backing that connected the bezel, center piece and back with Genesis medium. That keeps everything together.
@annitagalvan90494 жыл бұрын
Sweet Willow Designs , Thank you for your response. You are right and understand what you mean. I was just amazed that before adding the snake clay and backing, the bezel stayed in place.!! The only explanation to me is that you did a perfect framing to hold the bezel!

What size are the brads you used? Genesis what, where do we find it?
@SweetWillowDsgn8 жыл бұрын
Annette, thanks for watching. These are size 1/8" or 3mm brads. You can buy them in the paper crafts section of craft stores or use my link on Amazon here: amzn.to/29qEZNW Hope you find them,, they're really fun to use!
@SweetWillowDsgn8 жыл бұрын
Annette, Genesis is "Genesis Thick Medium". I use this in place of liquid clay as it is more like a gel medium and is not runny or overly slick. It has fantastic adhering properties. You can find it on-line. Here's my Amazon affiliate link if you want to use it: amzn.to/29VbqQa

Hi, thank you for another inspiring video with a wonderful result. Do I have to buy a special oven for this clay ? Or can I use mine ? Is it possible to torch them ? Thank you for reply.
@SweetWillowDsgn8 жыл бұрын
You can use your regular home oven. I would enclose your clay pieces in two aluminum foil pans. Line the bottom pan with a ceramic tile or file folder. You can't really torch them and get a consistent result. I usually bake my pieces for about 60 minutes at the temp recommended by the manufacturer.
