I cut crooked too. But… I learned from Donna kato that you mark your line on top and bottom, and then connect those lines up the sides. Then gradually rock your blade down the side lines to cut, you’ll get even cuts. Works like a gem for me every time now!

I LOVE this project! I bought clay during the pandemic as well. I used most of my stimulus money to pay off bills but allowed myself to get $100 worth of clay and supplies. I've used more of my clay since watching your tutorials than ever before. Thank you so much, Ms. Irene! P. S. I looked at your Facebook page and saw how incredibly beautiful you are! If I looked like you, I would be on screen all the time!

Donna, Those petals are perfect. Because you don't have a big cane, I wouldn't reduce so much.. If your using A small cane I only Do 5 petals instead of six and if you have to make each at 3/4 of an inch for each petal that's fine. So the only thing that I see is that you reduced the petals too small and they got all wonky on you. Try and make your flower petals a little bigger.... But I will only reduce the petal to 5 inches and that way, You'll have 5 petals at 1 inch. Don't quit though because you have it.. It's right there in those petals. Honestly, I just wrap mine in plastic wrap. Some artists wrap in wax paper, but you'll have to tape it. Hope that helps :-) I'll go find your message. Your KZbin name and your real name wasn't making a connection.

You have it at an angle when you cut to insert the white. The bottom is in the square, but the top, looking down on it, is not straight up and own in the square. So your cut is at n angle.

Irene, I know you said you’d get back with me, but I’m up to my butt in armadillas here! I attempted this project and I was doing great! Right up until the part you open the package and take out the clay. 🫤 It seems like it went a bit awry. The blue flower is a set of blue oval morpho-dots floating in a little lopsided cocoon of white and trans. They’re tiny now and I don’t know if they are viable. I will tackle them another day, but wondering if you or anyone has any suggestions on how to store all my warped cane pieces? If I don’t wrap them, they will stick to each other. What can I wrap them in that won’t leach all the oils out? Did I mention I don’t drink or smoke, but I’m gonna start both tonight? Yeah I’m pretty much a mess. 😊
