Best schedule for me to be at my best and sharpest at work is sleep 8.30pm-6am (6.30am morning run and breakfast followed by nice bath and coffee between 7am-8am. In work feeling fresh and on the ball at 9am !!!

For me, I find that a 30 minute nap cycle works better than a 20 minute nap cycle…😎

I praised my resilience into doing “what’s not possible” - me believing it’s not possible made it so, and I have just tortured myself for self-praising 😂. Also, when you have mentioned the book The Biology of Belief, I have immediately stumbled upon the book Power vs Force in my head out of nowhere, just before you have said it in the video. I sleep about 5-6 hours a night just purely because I have a lot of trouble switching off but I actually feel worse if i sleep more than 7 and a half hours

while studying at night I accidentally starting taking 20 minute naps every 2 hours ams that worked well. I'm thinking of going back and splitting my sleep into 2 chunks. my body responds really well to naps

@@machrisomachriso2797 hey it's been a while since that comment lol. I no longer do that. But back then (when I had to pull all-nighters) I would sleep for 20 minutes, get up and study for 2 hours and then repeat again until sunrise. I don't really recommend this unless absolutely necessary. Crazy times. I have exams in a week but even then I sleep at 2am and wake at 10am. Exams are at 2PM so I'll be fine. My job doesn't need a start at 9am either. Good luck!

I tried a bunch and what ultimately worked for me was Triphasic sleep. Core 1 around 11pm, Core 2 around 3:30am, and Core 3 right after lunch. Instead of an alarm I use a REM tracking app that wakes me when my sleep cycle ends and I start moving. That was a game changer. When I started the schedule I was doing about 8 hours of sleep overall. Now I fall asleep and hit REM faster, so my total sleep time is only about 4.5 hours. It allows me to be the night owl and the early riser, while getting more deep sleep than I ever got with monophasic sleep.

Sayr from Oklahoma, I have a dual sleep schedule. I goto bed at 6pm and get up around 12am - 1am. I stay up for a few hours and head back to bed around 7am. I sleep for a couple of hours and then I'm up for the rest of the day. I've been doing this for the last year. It works really well for me.

What you're describing actually sounds really natural. Polyphasic sleeping as a split up night was reportedly the standard before the industrial revolution. Beds in Bokrijk (history themed park in Belgium) are really short because people would wake up, eat, prance around and go bed to bed with a full stomach.

I was doing the siesta one when I was working from home. Now I am back in the office I can’t do it which is sad cause it was the most refreshed I felt in a long time. There is nowhere to sleep in my office and to hot to nap in my car during my lunch break.

Thanks for sharing your video! I normally sleep 5 to 6 hours a day, and I take a nap a day around 4 pm. My experience is that I am able to nap, and lots of people that I know can"t nap. I wonder if this polyphasic sleep pattern requires the ability to be able to nap?

I like that lone night feeling at the start of night and not in the morning. Waking up in the dark in the morning and using artificial light to start a day seems off to me. But when the night start and your up for some horror game in the dark is the best thing

Thank you for your great video and how is your experience with study capacity? I love to experience with this as I just coming short on time and want to create some extra time to study new tech for my work, like programming and getting some new certifications. However I am very used to 8hours and I also have tracked my sleep for quit some time, measuring also my deep sleep, which is usual at minimum of 2,5 hours... so I doubt a bit if a 20minute power nap will give me the right amount of deep sleep.. and I would like to know how your experience is about that?

Lovely video! I'm starting to experiment with biphasic sleeping now as I'm getting a deeper more satisfying sleep on the ketogenic diet (which is high-fat, moderate protein, very low carb). I've lost momentum... again and again... even tried polyphasic sleep back in the day, but that's a bit too extreme. I just want to maintain my momentum of self-development, and just keep on track. And I think sleep robs me of my momentum. But it's necessary.

Hello Michael. I've just discovered your channel! Great stuff. I need to be sharp and focused from about 14:00-20:00 and from 00:00-4:00/5:00. So I have started doing a biphasic sleep schedule consisting on having the main sleep from 5:00-5:30 to 12:00-12:30 and napping 1 hour from around 21:00-22:00. Do you think it makes sense on a biological perspective? Would you do it differently? Do you have any recommendations (books, videos, websites, etc) for me in order to be able to establish the schedule? What are the main things I should avoid to maximise the chance of establishing it? Thanks!

Hey António, thanks! Do you absolutely have to work through the night? Most polyphasic sleepers agree that if you don't have enough of the hormone melatonin, then your health will suffer.

Lucky you. My body genuinely craves about 14 hours of sleep (especially in the winter) and it’s been this way since I was a kid. Ofcourse that’s most of the damn day and I’ll never get anything down if allow that. So I usually only sleep 5-7 hours but I can feel every bit of sleep deprivation you expect from what I just told you. I really do see being able sleep for minimal amounts without any side effects as a legitimate talent and genetic gift. God has blessed you

It has nothing to do with what you believe or not believe, you either have it or you don't. I never believed or even thought about only sleeping 3 or 5 hours a night but that's what my body needs and have loads of energy all day but it is natural for me. Only do what is good for your body. Don't go by what anyone says, you don't need 8 hrs, you need whatever is the right amount for you.

@@YTACCPP If you take a look at the macro level brain processes activated through belief, it's hard to imagine a link between physical genetic properties and thought. I don't have all the answers, but seems like a sudo-science area to me

Unless hormones secreted in the choroid plexus / hypothalamus / basal ganglia some how affect epigenetics... at that point it wouldnt really be "belief". It would be any process that involves the secretion of that hormine

As far as I understood it, it would actually shape your own genetics based on your repeated behavior. I'm not sure, would change in your genetical structure count as physical change? I would say so, but I don't know about any official definition.
