First Last not quite, it’s a common mistake but the actual lyrics are, As I walk through the valley where I harvest my grain I take a look at my wife and realize she's very plain But that's just perfect for an Amish like me You know I shun fancy things like electricity At 4:30 in the morning I'm milkin' cows Jebediah feeds the chickens and Jacob plows fool And I've been milkin' and plowin' so long that Even Ezekiel thinks that my mind is gone I'm a man of the land, I'm into discipline Got a Bible in my hand and a beard on my chin But if I finish all of my chores and you finish thine Then tonight we're gonna party like it's 1699 We been spending most our lives Living in an Amish paradise I've churned butter once or twice Living in an Amish paradise It's hard work and sacrifice Living in an Amish paradise We sell quilts at a discount price Living in an Amish paradise A local boy kicked me in the butt last week I just smiled at him and I turned the other cheek I really don't care, in fact I wish him well 'Cause I'll be laughing my head off when he's burning in Hell But I ain't never punched a tourist even if he deserved it An Amish with a 'tude? You know that's unheard of I never wear buttons but I got a cool hat And my homies agree I really look good in black fool If you come to visit, you'll be bored to tears We haven't even paid the phone bill in 300 years But we ain't really quaint, so please don't point and stare We're just technologically impaired There's no phone, no lights, no motorcar Not a single luxury Like Robinson Caruso It's as primitive as can be We been spending most our lives Living in an Amish Paradise We're just plain and simple guys Living in an Amish Paradise There's no time for sin and vice Living in an Amish Paradise We don't fight, we all play nice Living in an Amish Paradise Hitchin' up the buggy, churnin' lots of butter Raised a barn on Monday, soon I'll raise anutter Think you're really righteous? Think you're pure in heart? Well, I know I'm a million time as humble as thou art I'm the pious guy the little Amlettes want to be like On my knees day and night scorin' points for the afterlife So don't be vain and don't be whiny Or else, my brother, I might have to get medieval on your heinie We been spending most our lives Living in an Amish Paradise We're all crazy Mennonites Living in an Amish Paradise There's no cops or traffic lights Living in an Amish Paradise But you'd probably think it bites Living in an Amish Paradise Ahh-ahh-ahh-ahh-ahh-ahh Ahh-ahh-ahh-ahh-ahh-ahh-yecch!

I'll always remember seeing Polyphia with my best friend at a show in Austin where they played with Dance Gavin Dance and Hail The Sun. I had no idea who they were, and it blew my mind when the guy who was standing next to us went up on stage and started doing this to a guitar. I had been standing next to Tim the first part of the show. It was an outdoor show with a stage and a big awning, and halfway through their set it was raining and there was thunder and lightning, so everyone was huddled under this awning. I can vividly remember this song, huddled with people mesmerized my this song while a thunder storm is going on around us. My best friend is gone now, and that show was my favorite we ever went to. I'll always remember this song, and I love to see where you guys have gotten to now.

I love this, I love this so much. I'm gonna tell you why, because you sound like a band as a whole now. Bass cuts through much better so Clay has his presence. Drums have their "solo" part so we can hear Brandon's awesome grooves. Scott brings the heavy side of the song doing chords not as previously when you both played melodies, this sounds way fuller and more natural. And Tim's playing isn't "look what I can do" as previously (it was nice, but this sounds better imo), it's more melodic. I think you are improving a lot and I'm really glad, because you clearly have the skills, you needed a bit more mature approach to your songwriting, and I think you got it right this time :) Polyphia is back!

Only question I have is, why EMGs? Haha

New Muse generally, I feel the mix is just better and we can hear Clay more, we can also hear drums more. I don't know if they are retracking muse or just remastering it, but it would make sense to retrack it imo haha I hope next release sounds more like this song and not like some songs in Muse which are basically more shred oriented. Don't get me wrong, shred is cool, but I like songs like Finale more.

rmbloungeact I get you. I couldn't even tell he was using a pick until i seen the vid. He is damn good. I also like the flanger effect he add's to the bass in the other songs. It reminds me of Justin Chancellor from Tool.

I always liked Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, John Petrucci. Listened to their music a lot. Came across a short 'Ego Death' clip with Ste Vai's solo on YT a couple months ago. And so it started with Polyphia and it doesn't stop :D Amazing stuff that you compose and play!

Been a fan of these boys for a couple of years and love their new stuff but I only discovered this song today after having my heartbroken and it's the best thing that could have ever happened. That harmonized section at 1:39 is something we all wish we wrote

2018 metal - Bassist actually moves. Drummer is as stiff as his sticks. All jokes aside, this is definitely a group that I will be following. Keep making music \\m//

I'm actually the same way. I always thought that I'd be one of the more reserved bassists, but the first time I preformed with a band, all of a sudden, the head began to bang. It was so fun.

Lost out here in my own frontier, I was humming this song all day and I didn't think about suicide hardly at all. Just knowing there are people out there being creative, playing with virtuosity, and getting it right gives me hope. You guys are CRUSHING it here and I think you are all terrific. Skywalker is killing it on the drums. I love this line up! I think this song saved my life, so thanks.

Find your thing mate. Find something that you can get lost in. Something you can master, fall in love with the challenge. Watch yourself grow. Life wants you to live. Believe it or not but you're in a very fortunate position right now.... The healing and joy starts at the start of the journey. Any little bit of progress is going to make it better than you were. Happiness and fulfilment need sorrow to know what they are and you've already experienced that. You got this bro.
@Smartguy5614 жыл бұрын
This is so much better than the Billboard rock garbage these days! It's nice to see guys with real instrumental skills that actually know how to play instead of "strumming" the guitar like most of the stuff that passes for rock music today!

Fucking unbelievable musicianship. Man this is my favorite Polyphia song so far. I hope I hear more like this in the future, drums, guitars, bass, every second of this song puts more emotion on my face than anything I've heard in a while. That's a fucking compliment if ever a musician could get one.
