I was one of the haters who thought Renaissance and everything before that was boring and derivative. Generic djent and "govan-esque" stuff without the depth... but since The Most Hated these guys been delivering absolute bangers. Basically reshaping and redefining what can be expected from guitar-centered music, creating their own style on top of that. This new era of Polyphia is beyond sick, it's mindblowing.

@@santioliva It was a quote from a John Wayne movie (Rio Bravo), where Wayne complements a young gunslinger who…is so good that he does the truly hard stuff but doesn’t have the thirst for showing off that young men usually have. He doesn’t bother with the easy ways of showing off…he’s too good for that.

Phil you should have recorded your reaction! Would have loved to see someone from the older generation getting their first taste of new age virtuoso playing that has been a guitar fan all their life. Regardless, glad you enjoyed the experience!

As a 54 year old guitarist, I never even imagined that guitar could reach this level of technical insanity. The songwriting is brilliant as well. I love it!

Sorry, rhe chord progression is one of the most hackneyed in the history of music.

@@harrydehnhardt5092 I get where you're coming from. Polyphia's chord progressions are usually very simple, and I myself wish at times that they would go a bit more wild in that regard (although every now and then there are indeed some spicy chords mixed in, although they usually come and go very quickly). However, how the chords are played of course can also make the music very interesting and fun to listen to. Every now and then I come accross a classical guitar piece where at first I sniff my nose and think, meh, boring chord progression, but then later go, okay wait, this is actually super cool, because the chords are played in such a creative way. Nice arpeggios, variation in sound colouring, weird jumps, nice motifs worked into it. And I think on that front Poyphia really excell!

As a guitarist, surely you've imagined this...just lacked the technical skill, much like myself...

@@harrydehnhardt5092 its ironic that you've used the word "progression" yet fail to see the progression...mind boggling
